About the role
We are seeking a Failure Analysis / Debug Technician to join our team at ASTRODYNE TDI SDN. BHD. in Perai, Penang. You will conduct thorough root cause analysis on failed components and assemblies, support Return Material Authorization (RMA) investigations, and drive corrective and preventive actions in accordance with quality and compliance standards. This role plays a critical part in identifying product and process failures, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the quality and reliability of products delivered to customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate production test equipment, troubleshoot and repair defective products, maintain test equipment, monitor test performance and yield trend, and provide technical support to other focus factory personnel.
Assist Failure Analysis (FA) Engineers by conducting root cause evaluations on line failures and incoming Return Material Authorization (RMA) units, performing mechanical, electrical, and acoustic tests to identify failure mechanisms and material defects.
Responsible for performing failure analysis, ensure proper tracking of analysis results and samples, and status update to FA engineers.
Record failure data accurately and ensure traceability in line with quality standards.
Conduct mechanical, electrical and acoustic tests to evaluate product reliability, material, and component failure mechanisms.
Contribute to the identification of systemic issues and potential design or process improvements.
Capable to operate most of the FA equipment, conduct regular maintenance and manage respective consumables, for example, oscilloscope, power supplies, load.
Provide technical support to test operator and collaborate with Test Engineering to resolve test related challenges.
Job Requirements:
Diploma or certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
Minimum 2 years of experience in a test engineering or technician role, preferably within the electronics or manufacturing industry
Strong understanding of electrical and electronic principles, test methodologies, and instrumentation
Experience handling and analyzing customer returns (RMA processes) and standard RMA disposition workflows
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical data
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
