Job summary

FOZ One Sdn Bhd in Senai, Johor, Malaysia is seeking a Facilities Technician to perform preventive maintenance on production machines, troubleshoot faults, and support continuous improvement.

You will read drawings, maintain control systems (PLCs, I/O), install and relocate equipment, and keep CMMS records, while complying with safety policies and working occasional shifts.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, or related field.
• 2+ years of industrial machinery maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on production machines per schedule.
• Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and repair to restore function.
• Read engineering drawings and schematics to understand configurations.
• Maintain control systems including PLCs and I/O racks.
• Install, relocate, and align machines; disassemble/reassemble components.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment.
• Maintain maintenance records in CMMS.
• Identify improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations.
• Assist spare-parts management and inventory planning.
• May work shifts/overtime as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• 1. Perform preventive maintenance on production machines (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic) according to schedule and maintenance plans.
• 2. Respond to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out repairs to restore functionality as quickly as possible.
• 3. Read and interpret engineering drawing, wiring diagrams, and machine schematics to understand machine configurations and systems.
• 4. Maintain and repair control systems, including PLCs, I/O racks, and other automation hardware.
• 5. Perform machine installation, relocations, and alignments — disassembling or reassembling components when needed.
• 6. Use a variety of tools, including hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment.
• 7. Maintain machine maintenance records, logs, and reports using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• 8. Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to increase machine efficiency and reliability; recommend upgrades or improvements.
• 9. Always maintain to safety protocols and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company safety policies.
• 10. Assist to maintain spare-parts management, including inventory monitoring and part replacement planning.
• 11. May be required to work on shifts and support during overtime or weekends, based on operational needs and mutual agreement.

Level of Education

• 1. Diploma or equivalent; technical diploma/certificate in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, or related field preferred.
• 2. Experience (e.g., 2+ years) in maintenance of industrial machinery, preferably in a manufacturing.

Key knowledge / Job Specific Competencies / Experience

• 1. Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• 2. Advantage if Experience with control systems (PLCs, I/O), automation, and basic programming diagnostics.
• 3. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation: drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams.
• 4. Excellent problem-solving skills and root-cause analysis capabilities.
• 5. Familiar with CMMS or maintenance.
• 6. Can work as a team with production teams and report maintenance status.
• 7. Willingness to work irregular hours, shifts, or overtime to respond to machine emergencies.
• 8. Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in a factory or industrial environment.
