Job summary

ALTEK MEDICAL SDN. BHD. seeks a Facility Engineer to manage operation, maintenance and reliability of plant facilities, including electrical systems, HVAC and safety systems.

You will develop preventive maintenance plans, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate upgrades while monitoring energy usage and ESG-related improvements. Strong reading of drawings and contractor oversight are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant facility engineering or maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Good knowledge of factory electrical systems, HVAC, compressed air, fire protection and building maintenance.
• Experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and contractor management.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, electrical schematics and technical specifications.
• Exposure to energy management, utility monitoring and ESG-related improvements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage operation, maintenance and reliability of factory facilities and utilities, including electrical distribution, HVAC, fire protection, CCTV and compressed air systems.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans to minimise downtime and ensure smooth production operations.
• Troubleshoot facility and utility system failures, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Plan and coordinate facility upgrades, renovations, equipment installation and utility connections.
• Review drawings, specifications and capacity requirements for new installations and expansions.
• Monitor electricity, water and compressed air consumption, analyse usage trends and pursue energy efficiency initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors and service providers to meet technical, safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
• Prepare and monitor maintenance budgets, evaluate quotations and manage critical spare parts.
• Maintain technical drawings, maintenance records and inspection reports.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, EHS and General Affairs on daily operations and facility improvement projects.
• Provide guidance to maintenance technicians and support emergency breakdown response.

Job description

Manage the operation, maintenance and reliability of factory facilities and utilities, including electrical distribution, air conditioning and ventilation, fire protection, CCTV and compressed air systems.

Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans to minimise equipment downtime and ensure smooth production operations.

Troubleshoot facility and utility system failures, conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

Plan and coordinate facility upgrades, renovation works, equipment installation and utility connections to support production requirements.

Review technical drawings, equipment specifications and utility capacity requirements for new installations and factory expansion.

Monitor electricity, water and compressed air consumption, analyse usage trends and implement energy efficiency and cost reduction initiatives to support ESG objectives.

Ensure facility operations and maintenance activities comply with applicable safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.

Coordinate contractors, vendors and service providers to ensure work meets technical, safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.

Prepare and monitor maintenance budgets, evaluate quotations and manage critical spare parts.

Maintain technical drawings, maintenance records, inspection reports and relevant facility documentation.

Work closely with Production, Engineering, EHS and General Affairs teams on daily operations and facility improvement projects.

Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and support emergency breakdown response.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in facility engineering or maintenance within a manufacturing environment.

Good knowledge of factory electrical systems, HVAC, compressed air systems, fire protection systems and building maintenance.

Experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and contractor management.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics and technical specifications.

Familiarity with energy management, utility monitoring and ESG-related improvement initiatives is an added advantage.

Relevant professional or competency certifications, such as a Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) Chargeman certificate, are an added advantage.

Strong planning, problem-solving, communication and coordination skills.

Willingness to support urgent maintenance activities outside normal working hours when required.
