Job summary

Power Root in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Engineer to manage maintenance of HVAC systems, AHUs, MSB panels and electrical distribution within the facility.

You will troubleshoot air-conditioning, chillers and inverter systems, coordinate with vendors, and contribute to preventive maintenance programs while ensuring safety and SOP adherence.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in facility maintenance, building services or industrial plant engineering; fresh graduates with relevant internship may be considered.
• Sound knowledge of air-conditioning systems, air-cooled chillers and AHU maintenance.
• Working knowledge of MSB panels, electrical distribution systems, and low-voltage switchgear troubleshooting.
• Able to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, P&ID drawings and equipment manuals.

• Maintain and troubleshoot Air Handling Units (AHU), including motors, belts, fans, filters and control components.
• Conduct inspection, testing and troubleshooting of Main Switchboard (MSB) panels, circuit breakers and associated electrical distribution equipment.
• Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures and propose corrective actions.
• Support the Facility Engineer in project works related to equipment upgrades and energy efficiency initiatives.

• Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of air-conditioning systems including split units, package units and centralized systems.
• Carry out inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of air-cooled chiller systems including compressors, condensers and cooling towers.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Air Handling Units (AHU), including motors, belts, fans, filters and control components.
• Conduct inspection, testing and troubleshooting of Main Switchboard (MSB) panels, circuit breakers and associated electrical distribution equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on air compressors, including checking pressure levels, oil levels and identifying leaks or malfunctions.
• Monitor, inspect and troubleshoot solar panel systems and associated inverters to ensure optimal energy generation and system uptime.
• Carry out general electrical works, including wiring, lighting systems, motor control circuits and power distribution within the facility.
• Support the planning and execution of preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for all facility equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Record and update maintenance logs, downtimes reports and equipment for management review.
• Assist in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures and propose corrective actions.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair works are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, SOPs and company QHSE policies.
• Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs, calibration or equipment servicing when required.
• Assist in the procurement of spare parts and maintain adequate inventory of critical facility components.
• Support the Facility Engineer in project works related to equipment upgrades, energy efficiency initiatives and new installations.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency callouts to minimize impact on production operations.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Minimum 1-3 years of working experience in facility maintenance, building services or industrial plant engineering; fresh graduates with relevant internship experience may be considered.
• Sound knowledge of air-conditioning systems, air-cooled chillers and AHU troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Working knowledge of MSB panels, electrical distribution systems, and low-voltage switchgear troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with air compressor systems and general pneumatic system maintenance.
• Basic understanding of solar PV systems and inverter operation is an added advantage.
• Possession of a valid Competent Person/Wireman certification.
• Able to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, P&ID drawings and equipment manuals.
• Good problem solving skills with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Willing to work in shifts, on call or extended hours during breakdowns or plant emergencies.
• Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• A strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to standard operating procedures.
