Job summary

CBRE Group, Inc. in Ipoh, Malaysia, seeks an Assistant Technical Manager to support mechanical operations, maintenance, energy management, and workforce development for a facility or portfolio. You will lead a team, coordinate daily activities, and assist in budgeting while ensuring system reliability and safety.

You will oversee HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems, guide exchanges across disciplines, and drive continuous improvement in preventive maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in staffing, training, development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management preferred.
• Ability to convey sensitive information clearly and manage expectations across teams.
• Strong leadership skills to drive quality and efficiency in the department.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Provide formal supervision to employees; oversee training and evaluations.
• Coordinate and manage daily activities; set schedules and deadlines.
• Assist in operating and capital budget development for facilities.
• Improve preventive maintenance programs and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with contractors, tenants, and technicians for maintenance.
• Oversee building systems: fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, electrical.
• Maintain communication with tenants, clients, and vendors.
• Support acquisition of new management contracts and maintain drawings.
• Respond to emergencies and customer concerns.
• Model CBRE RISE values and coach staff accordingly.
• Identify and resolve day-to-day issues in systems and processes.
