Oriental Coffee International – Puchong New Village
The HR Trainer is responsible for coordinating, delivering and supporting employee training and development programmes across the company’s outlet operations.
The role focuses on hands-on and on-the-job training for FOH (Front of House) and BOH (Back of House) ensuring employees understand and properly follow the company’s SOPs, operational standards, service standards, food quality, hygiene requirements and job-specific procedures.
The position is also responsible for supporting new outlet openings in Malaysia and overseas, including pre-opening training, staff readiness, SOP implementation and on-site training support. The HR Trainer will monitor employee competency, provide coaching and refresher training, maintain training records and identify areas where additional training or improvement is required.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing, reviewing and improving training programmes based on operational and business requirements.
- Prepare training schedules, plans and calendars for outlet employees.
- Develop and coordinate training programmes for FOH and BOH employees.
- Assist in preparing and updating training materials, presentations, manuals, SOPs and other learning resources.
- Ensure training programmes are conducted according to the approved schedule and requirements.
- Review and update training materials when there are changes to SOPs, processes or operational requirements.
- Maintain proper records of training programmes and participant attendance.
B. New Employee Onboarding & Orientation
- Coordinate and conduct onboarding and orientation programmes for new outlet employees.
- Introduce new employees to company policies, workplace rules, operational requirements and relevant procedures.
- Ensure employees understand basic company requirements, including attendance, discipline, workplace conduct and other relevant policies.
- Coordinate new joiner training arrangements based on employees' positions and outlet requirements.
- Follow up on onboarding completion and outstanding training requirements.
- Monitor new employees' progress during their training period.
C. FOH and BOH SOP Training
- Conduct hands‑on and on‑the‑job training based on FOH and BOH SOPs.
- Train Service employees on service procedures, customer service, product knowledge, order‑taking and other relevant operational procedures.
- Train Tearista employees on beverage preparation, recipes, portion control, product quality and relevant SOPs.
- Train Bakery employees on product preparation, baking procedures, recipes, portion control, product quality, presentation and relevant Bakery SOPs.
- Train Kitchen employees on food preparation, cooking procedures, recipes, portion control, food quality and relevant Kitchen SOPs.
- Ensure employees understand and comply with hygiene, cleanliness, food safety and operational requirements.
- Demonstrate the correct work procedures and monitor employees during practical training.
- Provide coaching and corrective training when employees do not meet the required standards.
- Conduct refresher training when SOPs or operational requirements are updated.
D. New Outlet Opening – Malaysia & Overseas
- Coordinate and support training requirements for new outlet openings in Malaysia and overseas.
- Prepare training schedules and manpower training plans before outlet openings.
- Conduct pre‑opening training for FOH and BOHemployees based on their respective SOPs and job requirements.
- Arrange and coordinate training locations and training schedules where required.
- Monitor employee training progress and staff readiness before outlet opening.
- Ensure employees complete the required training before deployment.
- Identify training gaps and arrange additional coaching or refresher training where required.
- Provide on‑site training and operational support during new outlet openings when required.
- Support the implementation of company SOPs and operational standards during the opening stage.
E. Training Needs Analysis & Employee Development
- Identify training needs through operational feedback, employee performance, audits and discussions with Outlet Managers and relevant PICs.
- Identify knowledge, skill and performance gaps among outlet employees.
- Develop or recommend suitable training programmes to address identified gaps.
- Monitor employees' training progress and development requirements.
- Provide additional coaching and refresher training where required.
- Collect feedback to continuously improve training programmes and materials.
F. Training Delivery & Facilitation
- Conduct classroom, online, practical and on‑the‑job training sessions.
- Deliver training in a clear, engaging and professional manner.
- Conduct practical demonstrations based on FOH and BOHSOPs.
- Adapt training methods according to different employee levels and job requirements.
- Ensure employees understand the training content and can apply the required procedures during actual operations.
- Provide guidance, coaching and clarification during training sessions.
G. Training Assessment & Effectiveness
- Conduct training assessments, quizzes and practical evaluations where applicable.
- Assess employees' practical competency in FOH and BOHoperations based on the relevant SOPs and job requirements.
- Monitor employees' understanding and application of training content.
- Identify employees who require additional coaching or retraining.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes.
- Recommend improvements and follow‑up actions based on training results and operational performance.
- Prepare training evaluation and effectiveness reports.
- Prepare, maintain and update training manuals, SOPs, presentations and other training materials.
- Ensure training materials are consistent with the latest approved operational requirements.
- Maintain and update training materials related to FOH and BOHSOPs.
- Ensure employees receive the latest approved training materials and information.
- Maintain proper version control of training documents.
- Support the development of training videos, practical guides and other learning resources.
I. Training Records & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and organised records of employee training attendance, completion and assessments.
- Track mandatory and outstanding training requirements.
- Maintain training databases and employee competency records.
- Prepare weekly and monthly training reports for Management.
- Monitor training completion rates and highlight outstanding training requirements.
- Report common training gaps, operational issues and areas requiring improvement.
- Ensure all training records are updated accurately and on time.
Job Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Training & Development, Business Administration, Hospitality, F&B Management or a related field.
Experience
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in training, learning & development, HR training, F&B operations or a related field.
- Experience in conducting employee training and developing training materials is preferred.
- Experience in F&B, retail, hospitality or multi‑outlet operations will be an added advantage.
- Experience in new outlet opening or operational training is highly preferred
- Strong training, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Good written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Additional language skills, including Mandarin, will be an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational, planning and coordination abilities.
- Ability to prepare training materials, presentations and reports.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
- Good understanding of employee training and development processes.
- Basic understanding of F&B operations, service standards and SOP implementation will be an advantage.
- Strong problem‑solving and follow‑up skills.
- Able to manage multiple training programmes and priorities simultaneously.
- Willing and able to travel to outlets throughout Malaysia and overseas when required.
