Job summary

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Malaysia invites you to join as Internship (Expense Management) for the Sept 2026 intake. You will process payment requests, input PL/NA codes, and monitor budgets to ensure timely payments.

The role offers hands-on experience in accounts payable/receivable, reconciliation, and escalation when issues occur. A finance-related degree, strong Excel skills, and good communication are required to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (Hons) in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration and/or Banking.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn new systems.
• Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
• Good initiative and good time planner. able to complete assigned works within stipulated timeline.
• Ability to multitasking, effectively prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines and work objectives.

Responsibilities

• Process all payment requests (invoice and staff claim reimbursement) and ensure approval.
• Apply and input the relevant Profit & Loss (PL)/ Natural Account (NA) code and narration.
• Track budget available before payment processing.
• Coordinate payment via GIRO/Swift or other payment facilities.
• Track daily budget monitoring and raise transfers when budget reaches threshold.
• Ensure payment processing turnover time (within 7 working days).
• Track and timely make payment to suppliers, vendors, and landlords.
• Prepare draft invoices/debt notes for accounts receivable transactions.
• Reconcile accounts receivable reports on a monthly basis.
• Escalate to Supervisor/Management if payment processing issues arise.
