Job summary

CTOS Data Systems is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer in Malaysia to support day-to-day cloud and on-premise infrastructure. The role focuses on reliability, security, and automation across AWS environments, with emphasis on IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models.

The incumbent will work within a regulated financial context, contribute to IaC using Terraform and CloudFormation, and participate in 24x7 production support and documentation processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Cloud certifications (AWS SysOps/SA, AlibabaCloud) are a plus.
• Infra certifications (backup, DR, Windows Server, Linux) are advantageous.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a CloudInfrastructure Engineer to support the day-to-day operations andcontinuous improvement of our cloud and infrastructure platforms. Thesuccessful candidate will help ensure the reliability, availability, andsecurity of cloud and on-premises environments through effective monitoring,operational support, automation, and adherence to established technologystandards.

The role requires hands-onexperience with core infrastructure technologies, including Windows and Linuxservers, enterprise networking, storage platforms, and database technologies. Familiaritywith AWS cloud services across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models, together with agood understanding of cloud security, operational best practices, andinfrastructure resilience, will be advantageous. Experience supportingregulated environments or financial institutions is an added advantage.

The successful candidate willalso contribute to technical documentation, operational procedures, projectimplementation, and knowledge-sharing activities while working closely withinternal teams and technology partners to support business and operationalobjectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Support the operation andmaintenance of cloud and infrastructure services, with a primary focus on AWSenvironments, including core services such as compute, storage, networking, anddatabase platforms, alongside hybrid on-premises integration.
2. Operate and troubleshoot cloudworkloads across AWS and other hyperscale platforms (e.g. Azure, GCP, AlibabaCloud) with emphasis on availability, performance, and stability of productionsystems.
3. Support implementation ofmonitoring and observability solutions in AWS environments using tools such asAmazon CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog to ensure operationalvisibility and proactive issue detection.
4. Assist in implementing andvalidating backup and recovery mechanisms within AWS (e.g. AWS Backup, snapshotstrategies), including periodic restore testing and retention compliance.
5. Support disaster recovery and highavailability configurations on AWS (e.g. Multi-AZ, Multi-Region setups, loadbalancing) to meet business continuity requirements.
6. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to supportstandardized and repeatable cloud resource provisioning.
7. Participate in 24x7 productionsupport and incident response for AWS-based workloads, ensuring timelyresolution in line with operational SLAs.
8. Support implementation of cloudsecurity, governance, and compliance controls within AWS environments, alignedwith internal policies and regulatory requirements.
9. Maintain operational documentationincluding runbooks, architecture notes, and incident post-mortems to supportknowledge retention and operational readiness.
10. Contribute to cloud optimizationinitiatives within AWS, including auto-scaling, cost efficiency, loadbalancing, and performance tuning under guidance from senior engineers.
11. Demonstrate working knowledge ofAWS cloud architecture principles and service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS),supporting secure and scalable cloud operations in production environments.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree, Postgraduate Diploma,Professional Qualification, or equivalent experience in Computer Science,Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWSCertified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AlibabaCloud Certified Associate, or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
• Professional certifications in infrastructureand platform technologies, including backup and disaster recovery solutions,Windows Server, Linux, virtualization, networking, or other relevanttechnologies, will be an added advantage.

Work Experience

• 6+ years of experience ininfrastructure operations across data centers and cloud environments.
• 6+ years of experience in cloud engineering andoperations, with a strong focus on cloud environments.
• Experience working in the financial industry isa plus.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure andnetwork operations across both data centre and cloud environments, includingWindows and Linux systems, directory services (LDAP), DNS, DHCP, CDN, loadbalancing, clustering, email gateways, IPVPN, SFTP, and related enterpriseservices, with experience supporting 24x7 production operations.
• Hands-on experience in cloud operations,including provisioning, monitoring, and support of cloud workloads, withexposure to key AWS services and operational best practices.
• Experience supporting cloud backup and disasterrecovery (DR) processes, including backup validation, restore testing, snapshotmanagement, and support for high availability (HA) configurations in AWSenvironments.
• Solid operational and analytical skills withthe ability to participate in technical decision-making, troubleshoot complexinfrastructure issues, and maintain accurate and well-structured technicaldocumentation.
• Experience using project tracking and workflowmanagement tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps (VSTS), Trello, or equivalentplatforms to support operational and project delivery activities.
• Working knowledge of audit, compliance, andsecurity requirements, with experience supporting implementation of controlmeasures, remediation activities, and preventive actions to meet organizationaland regulatory standards.
