FFM Berhad is seeking an R&D Food Technologist to develop product formulations and optimize process flows in a Malaysia-based facility. You will oversee trials, coordinate with suppliers, and conduct sensory evaluations while ensuring halal certification and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities include conducting experiments, analyzing data, preparing costing, and mentoring technicians, with opportunities to contribute to packaging artwork and labeling compliance.
Responsible for the development of the product formulation & process flow. Responsible to update the product formulation & process flow.
Monitor and coordinate all activities related to new / existing product development.
To liaise with supplier for new product samples and documents required, e.g.: specification, halal cert, etc.
To conduct experiments and produce sample products.
Carry out pilot plant trials in production and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve problems.
To attend external appointments/meetings with clients, marketing team and other parties if needed.
To conduct necessary internal training related to R&D.
Undertake basic and applied research into aspects of food processing, food preservation, food quality, food deterioration, packaging, storage, and delivery.
Analyse results and experimental data and update documents in R&D department.
Conduct sensory evaluation for new and existing product sample or when it is necessary.
Supervise and coordinate the work of technicians.
To ensure all raw materials & ingredients used are Halal certified (JAKIM standard).
To develop Product Sensory Standard and conduct sensory screening.
To develop and analyse Technical List.
To develop alternate supplier lists for ingredients and raw materials.
Preparing product costing based on raw materials and manufacturing costs to ensure profitable products.
Formulate recommendations to develop new or improve current products, product upgrades, new or improved processes and cost savings.
Ensure all R&D resources (labour, raw material, equipment’s, building and facilities, etc) are well kept, utilized, well maintained, recorded, and accounted for.
Involve in the development of packaging artwork and ensure packaging labelling are accordance with the law.
Other duties as may be assigned or may come up as part of organizational requirement.
Bachelor Degree Holder on Food Technology, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent
2 years of experience and/or training in relevant industry.
Familiar with Management Food Safety System, GMP, ISO22000 and HACCP.
Basic knowledge of Food Act and Regulations and Food Label Act.
Basic understanding on Halal requirement.
Experience in factory and SOP documentation will be an advantage.
Computer literacy including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Words.
Good communicational skills in both verbally and writing.
Ability to work independently and strong problem-solving skills.
