Job summary

Berjaya Sompo Insurance Berhad is seeking an Executive, Credit Control in Kuala Lumpur to support the finance and accounting team. The role focuses on monitoring intermediaries’ accounts, coordinating with marketing, and maintaining client profiles.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance/ Accounting/ Investment/ Banking or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Credit Control; general insurance experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of accounting standards and reporting requirements.
• Good in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team.
• Fresh graduates with internship experience in general insurance finance department may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support credit control function including monitoring collection of intermediaries’ accounts.
• Collaborate with marketing teams on collection status via meetings and discussions.
• Prepare and update minutes; track progress monthly.
• Monitor intermediaries’ statements of account and ensure timely matching and balancing.
• Highlight overdue items (90+ days) and follow up on collections.
• Perform journal entries and payments to clear outstanding items with supporting documents.
• Ensure monthly reconciliation of accounts with brokers and partners.
• Assist in implementing internal controls and update process flows as needed.
• Handle ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Executive, Credit Control - Finance & Accounting

The incumbent is required to assist and support credit control function which includes monitoring the collection of intermediaries’ accounts. Working closely with the marketing teams on collection status via discussions, regular meetings. Maintaining and updating the client profiles for all intermediaries.

The key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Credit Control

Conduct regular discussion and meetings with the marketers from head office and branches.

Preparation of minutes and update the progress on monthly basis.

Monitor intermediaries’ statement of account to ensure matching are done regularly and prepare matching listing.

Monitor and highlight the outstanding item especially those more than 90 days and follow up closely on collection status.

2. Matching and monitoring of payments

To perform matching, raise journals and payments to clear the outstanding items in the statement of accounts with supporting documents.

Monitor payment credited in bank on regular basis and arrange for receipt issuance.

3. Prepare reconciliation of accounts with intermediaries such as brokers and other business partners on monthly basis.

4. Timely implementation of internal controls recommended by internal and external auditors.

5. Review and update the process flow and operation manual where necessary to align with system enhancement and process improvement.

6. Any ad hoc and new tasks as assigned from time to time

Job specification:

Degree in Finance/ Accounting/ Investment/ Banking and equivalent.

Minimum 1 year of experience in Credit Control, and in General Insurance is an added advantage.

Knowledge of accounting standards and reporting requirements.

Good in Microsoft office application.

Good interpersonal and communication skill.

Ability to work as a team.
