SEMI Integration in Malaysia seeks an Equipment Integration Consultant for factory automation to support semiconductor, PV solar and advanced manufacturing projects. The role involves hands-on work with Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 systems, and regional/overseas project assignments with on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:
Participate in the implementation, configuration, and support of Equipment Automation Platform (EAP) / SCADA systems
Perform manufacturing equipment integration, data acquisition, and interface testing with factory systems (MES, EAP, etc.)
Develop and maintain equipment communication interfaces, including SECS/GEM and non-SECS protocols
Enable and integrate legacy or non-SECS equipment by converting them to SECS/GEM-compliant interfaces using PLC, OPC, Modbus, or custom solutions
Support PLC parameter configuration and equipment communication with factory systems
Handle equipment data collection including events, alarms, status, and trace data
Assist in digital manufacturing applications such as equipment management, OEE, and equipment control
Coordinate with internal teams including development, QA, infrastructure, and operations during project execution
Work closely with third-party vendors, automation partners, and equipment suppliers to ensure quality delivery
Conduct system testing, commissioning, buy-off, and on-site troubleshooting at customer factories
Analyze communication logs and troubleshoot equipment interface issues at protocol level (e.g. SECS/GEM message, TCP/IP, OPC)
Prepare technical documentation, interface specifications, and implementation reports
Engage with customers and key stakeholders, participate in technical discussions and project meetings
Support local and overseas customer projects through on-site and remote support
Travel frequently, including overseas travel, based on project requirements
Requirements:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Automation, or related fields
Minimum 3 years of experience in EAP, SCADA, equipment integration, or factory automation roles
Core Technical Requirements:
Hands-on experience with SECS/GEM (SEMI E30/E37) implementation or troubleshooting is required
Familiarity with SEMI standards such as E30, E37, E84, E87, E90, E94 etc. is an advantage
Hands-on experience in manufacturing equipment integration and data collection
Experience in enabling or integrating non-SECS equipment into SECS/GEM-compliant systems is highly preferred
Understanding of EAP architecture, including host communication, equipment events, alarms, and trace data handling
Experience integrating EAP with MES systems is an advantage
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as SECS/GEM, OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP, RS232
Basic programming knowledge (e.g. C#, Java, .NET, Spring Boot) is a plus
Knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle)
Experience with PLC integration and signal mapping is an advantage
Domain & Practical Skills:
Experience in Semiconductor, Solar, PCB, or PCBA manufacturing environments is preferred
Basic understanding of PV or semiconductor equipment operation, signals, and process flow is an advantage
Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot equipment communication issues at protocol level
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on-site under pressure
Soft Skills:

Able to handle customer-facing situations and provide timely solutions
Proactive, responsible, and able to work in a fast-paced project environment
Willingness to travel extensively, including overseas assignments
Language Requirements:
Ability to communicate effectively with Mandarin-speaking customers and project teams is required
Additional language proficiency (e.g. Tamil) is an added advantage
