Job summary

Pivotal Systems in Malaysia is seeking an Equipment Engineer/Technician to install, set up, and maintain PCBA production lines and SMT equipment including printers, pick-and-place, and reflow ovens. You will diagnose issues, optimize line performance, and support NPI and production expansion.

The role requires 3+ years in PCBA/SMT equipment maintenance, strong problem-solving, and good communication in Malay, English, and Mandarin. On-site with attractive allowances and benefits.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in PCBA/SMT equipment maintenance, machine setup, or electronics manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with SMT equipment such as screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI, SPI, and wave soldering machines.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems.
• Familiar with IPC standards, EHS requirements, and Microsoft Office; ERP/MES experience is an advantage.
• Good communication in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Install, set up, commission, and qualify new PCBA production lines and equipment (SMT, screen printers, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI, SPI, ICT).
• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on PCBA production equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues to minimize downtime.
• Optimize machine parameters and line configurations to improve throughput and OEE.
• Lead equipment improvement initiatives and root cause analysis for reliability and cost reduction.
• Coordinate installation, relocation, calibration, validation, and acceptance for new product introduction.

Job Responsibilities

Install, set up, commission, and qualify new PCBA production lines and equipment, including SMT, screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, wave soldering machines, AOI, SPI, ICT, and functional test systems.

Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on PCBA production equipment to ensure maximum machine availability and reliability.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production continuity.

Optimize machine parameters, feeder setups, programs, and production line configurations to improve throughput, product quality, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Lead equipment improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce maintenance costs, and improve equipment reliability through continuous improvement and root cause analysis.

Coordinate equipment installation, relocation, calibration, validation, and acceptance activities to support new product introduction (NPI) and production expansion.

Work closely with Production, Process Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve equipment-related issues and support daily manufacturing operations.

Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, equipment manuals, spare parts inventory, maintenance records, and technical documentation.

Monitor equipment performance using downtime analysis, MTBF/MTTR, and other maintenance KPIs, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Ensure all equipment maintenance and setup activities comply with EHS requirements, IPC standards, and company quality procedures.

Train production operators and technicians on proper equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, and routine maintenance practices.

Perform any other duties or projects assigned by the immediate superior or Management from time to time.

Requirements:

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 3 years of experience in PCBA/SMT equipment maintenance, machine setup, or electronics manufacturing.

Hands-on experience with SMT equipment such as screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI, SPI, and wave soldering machines.

Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems, with knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance.

Familiar with IPC standards, EHS requirements, and Microsoft Office applications; experience with ERP/MES systems is an advantage.

Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin to effectively communicate with Chinese-speaking employees, suppliers, and stakeholders.

Problem-solving, and teamwork skills; able to work independently and support production during overtime or shift work when required.
