Job summary

Flex in Batu Kawan, Penang, is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support manufacturing operations. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and collaboration with process engineers to maintain precision and uptime.

Responsibilities include installation/removal support, test/calibration planning, equipment logging, and on-site inspections. Travel to other Flex sites or vendors may be required. A Bachelor degree and 5 years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in related field and 5 years of equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and isolate failure mechanisms.
• Repair failure mechanisms cost-effectively.
• Perform preventive maintenance at scheduled intervals.
• Calibrate and re-qualify equipment as required.
• Aid installation/removal of process equipment.
• Research and implement corrective action reports and process-tracking mechanisms.
• Record equipment activity in logs and notify of issues.
• Set up standard and special laboratory equipment for testing and calibration.
• Disassemble and inspect components for defects; repair and balance parts.
• Assist engineers with test plans to maintain precision in instruments.
• May travel to other Flex sites or vendors; higher level may perform software and hardware maintenance.
• Specialized: Allocate work to fitters; check/calibrate instruments; fit new parts; conduct quality inspections; respond to breakdowns; arrange replacements; update production managers; ensure 24-hour coverage; work on mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic/computerized systems.
