Job summary

Al-Ambia Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to join our Health, Safety & Environment team on a contract basis in Selangor. You will ensure construction activities comply with environmental legislation, permits, and company policies while promoting sustainable practices across project sites.

Responsibilities include developing, implementing and monitoring environmental programs, conducting audits, managing waste, monitoring air and water quality, and preparing regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years' experience as Environmental Officer or similar in construction.
• Knowledge of Malaysian environmental legislation and compliance.
• Experience with environmental management systems (ISO 14001).
• Ability to conduct environmental audits and assessments.
• Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, strong communication.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and hold a valid driving license.

About the role Al-Ambia Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to join our Health, Safety & Environment team on a contract basis. This is a pivotal role within our construction operations, based in Selangor. As an Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with environmental legislation, regulations, and company policies. Your work will be fundamental to protecting the environment whilst maintaining our commitment to sustainable construction practices and minimising our ecological footprint across all project sites.

Key responsibilities

Developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental policies, procedures and programmes across construction projects

Conducting environmental impact assessments and audits to identify risks and non-compliance issues

Ensuring adherence to environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements at all project sites

Managing waste disposal, recycling programmes and environmental resource management on construction sites

Monitoring air quality, noise levels, dust control and water pollution prevention measures

Investigating environmental incidents and implementing corrective and preventative actions

Providing environmental training and raising awareness amongst staff and contractors

Preparing environmental reports, documentation and records for regulatory compliance

Recommending improvements to environmental practices and sustainable construction methods

What we're looking for

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field

Minimum 3-5 years' experience as an Environmental Officer or similar role within the construction industry

Strong knowledge of Malaysian environmental legislation, regulations and compliance requirements

Experience with environmental management systems and ISO 14001 standards

Proficiency in conducting environmental audits and assessments

Excellent understanding of waste management, pollution control and sustainable practices

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment

Problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to various project sites

Professional certifications in environmental management or occupational health and safety would be advantageous
