Job summary

MCS MANAGEMENT SDN BHD in Penang is seeking an Environment Officer to manage environmental compliance for a major Design & Build project. You will gain hands-on exposure to construction environmental management, regulatory compliance and project delivery.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in environmental fields, at least 3 years' experience in environmental management, preferably in construction, and knowledge of waste management, pollution prevention, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in environmental management, preferably in construction.
• Experience in building, infrastructure or Design & Build projects is an advantage.
• Good understanding of environmental regulations, waste management, and pollution prevention.
• CePSWAM or other environmental competency certification is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day environmental monitoring and controls across the project site.
• Ensure compliance with environmental requirements, approvals, regulations and company standards.
• Monitor waste management, water quality, dust, noise, erosion, sediment and pollution controls.
• Conduct environmental inspections, identify risks and follow up on corrective actions.
• Coordinate environmental sampling, testing and monitoring with consultants and service providers.
• Prepare environmental reports and submissions for meetings, management and authorities.
• Work with project teams and contractors to resolve environmental issues.
• Support environmental audits, inspections and regulatory engagements throughout the project lifecycle.

Join our project team as an Environment Officer and take an active role in managing environmental compliance for a major Design & Build building project. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to construction environmental management, regulatory compliance and project delivery.

Key responsibilities

Lead day-to-day environmental monitoring and implementation of environmental controls across the project site.

Ensure project activities comply with applicable environmental requirements, approvals, regulations and company standards.

Monitor waste management, water quality, dust, noise, erosion, sediment and pollution control at site.

Conduct environmental inspections, identify environmental risks and follow up on corrective actions.

Coordinate environmental sampling, testing and monitoring activities with consultants and appointed service providers.

Prepare environmental reports, records and submissions for project meetings, management and relevant authorities.

Work closely with the Project Manager, consultants, subcontractors and site teams to resolve environmental issues effectively.

Support environmental audits, inspections and regulatory engagements throughout the project lifecycle.

About you

Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or a related field.

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in environmental management, preferably within the construction industry.

Experience in building, infrastructure or Design & Build projects will be an added advantage.

Good understanding of environmental regulations, construction environmental controls, waste management and pollution prevention.

CePSWAM or other relevant environmental competency certification will be an added advantage.

Good communication, documentation and report-writing skills.

Proactive, independent and able to work effectively with project teams and contractors.
