Job summary

Green Plus Consultancy (M) Sdn Bhd in Shah Alam invites an experienced Environmental Officer for a contract role. You will implement and monitor environmental management systems, ensure compliance with Malaysian laws, and support clients across projects.

You will conduct EIAs, manage audits, and liaise with authorities such as the DOE. The role requires 3–5 years in environmental management and strong reporting and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in environmental management or consulting.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian environmental legislation (EQA 1974) and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Malaysian environmental legislation and international standards across projects.
• Conduct EIAs and develop mitigation strategies to reduce ecological risks.
• Implement and maintain environmental management systems, including ISO 14001 where applicable.
• Carry out environmental audits, inspections, and site assessments for non-conformances and improvements.
• Prepare and maintain environmental permits and regulatory records.
• Develop and deliver environmental training and awareness programmes.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities such as the DOE and local agencies.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventative measures.
• Support development of environmental policies and procedures.
• Monitor waste, water, air, and noise quality as required.
• Provide technical advice to project teams on best environmental practices.

About the role

Green Plus Consultancy (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to join our team in Shah Alam on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in supporting our commitment to environmental sustainability and compliance across our operations and client projects. As an Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining environmental management systems, ensuring adherence to local and international environmental regulations, and driving initiatives that minimise environmental impact. This position offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in environmental protection whilst working with a forward-thinking consultancy firm.

Key responsibilities

• Monitoring and managing environmental compliance across projects and operational sites in accordance with Malaysian environmental legislation and international standards
• Conducting environmental impact assessments and developing mitigation strategies to minimise ecological and environmental risks
• Implementing and maintaining environmental management systems, including ISO 14001 certification where applicable
• Carrying out regular environmental audits, inspections, and site assessments to identify potential non-conformances and areas for improvement
• Preparing and maintaining environmental documentation, permits, and regulatory records
• Developing and delivering environmental training and awareness programmes to staff and clients
• Liaising with regulatory authorities, including the Department of Environment (DOE) and local authorities, on environmental matters
• Investigating environmental incidents and implementing corrective and preventative measures
• Supporting the development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures
• Monitoring waste management, water quality, air quality, and noise levels as required
• Providing technical advice to project teams and clients on environmental best practices

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or a related discipline
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in environmental management, environmental consulting, or related fields
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian environmental legislation, including the Environmental Quality Act 1974, and understanding of relevant regulations and standards
• Relevant professional certifications are highly desirable MY-CISEC / CEPEOEIA
• Familiarity with environmental management systems and certification standards such as ISO 14001
• Experience conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and environmental site assessments
• Proficiency in monitoring and assessing air quality, water quality, waste management, and noise pollution
• Excellent technical writing and reporting skills, with the ability to prepare clear and comprehensive environmental documentation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Competence in using environmental monitoring equipment and software
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Good communication skills in English and Malay (spoken and written)
