Job summary

Zhongshi Chemical Engineering Construction in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to join our HSE team. You will implement and monitor environmental management practices at our project sites, ensuring compliance with regulations and company procedures.

The role requires coordinating with contractors, conducting inspections, maintaining records, and supporting audits to drive improvements in environmental performance and safety across operations.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Management.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in construction or industrial environmental management.
• Good knowledge of Malaysian environmental regulations and DOE requirements.
• CePSWaM certification is required or preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 requirements and environmental management systems.
• Strong knowledge of scheduled waste and chemical management, including handling, storage and disposal.
• Good understanding of environmental aspects and impact assessment.
• Good inspection, monitoring, reporting and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and coordinate with contractors and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular environmental inspections covering waste, scheduled waste, chemicals, spill management, dust, noise and pollution control.
• Monitor site environmental conditions and ensure compliance with DOE requirements and environmental regulations.
• Maintain environmental registers, monitoring records, scheduled waste documentation and environmental reports.
• Monitor and ensure proper handling, storage and disposal of scheduled waste, chemicals and other controlled materials.
• Coordinate environmental monitoring activities and follow up on issues identified during site inspections.
• Investigate environmental incidents and non-conformities and monitor corrective actions until closure.
• Assist in preparing environmental reports, inspection records and other HSE documentation.
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, subcontractors and authorities on environmental matters.
• Conduct environmental awareness activities and provide guidance to site personnel on environmental requirements and good practices.
• Ensure environmental requirements are communicated and implemented by contractors and site personnel.
• Support internal and external environmental audits and inspections.
• Perform other environmental and HSE duties as assigned by the superior.
