Job summary

Unigrà APAC is seeking a qualified environmental compliance professional to oversee the operation and regulatory alignment of WWTP, STP, and Scheduled Waste Management systems in accordance with DOE Malaysia requirements and ISO 14001 standards.

The role requires monitoring treatment performance, environmental parameters, and regulatory submissions, while coordinating corrective actions to prevent pollution and ensure sustained compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing environmental compliance for wastewater and scheduled waste systems.
• Familiarity with regulatory submissions and environmental reporting.
• Ability to monitor treatment performance and regulatory parameters.
• Knowledge of DOE Malaysia requirements and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor WWTP operation and treated effluent quality.
• Ensure compliance with industrial effluent discharge standards.
• Monitor pH, COD, BOD, TSS, oil & grease, flow, and other parameters.
• Coordinate desludging, maintenance and corrective actions for STP.
• Manage scheduled waste generation, storage, and disposal with proper labeling and segregation.
• Coordinate with licensed contractors and maintain environmental registers.
• Prepare KPI and performance reports for management.

Job description

To manage and ensure the effective operation, environmental compliance and continual improvement of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and Scheduled Waste Management System, in accordance with applicable DOE Malaysia requirements, Environmental Quality Act 1974, Industrial Effluent Regulations, Sewage Regulations, Scheduled Wastes Regulations, ISO 14001 and company environmental standards.

The position is responsible for monitoring treatment performance, environmental parameters, scheduled waste generation and disposal, chemical management, environmental monitoring, regulatory submissions, documentation and corrective actions to prevent environmental pollution and ensure sustained compliance.

Responsibilities

Key Focus Areas

WWTP

• Monitor WWTP operation and treated effluent quality.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industrial effluent discharge standards.
• Monitor pH, COD, BOD, TSS, oil & grease, flow and other relevant parameters.
• Troubleshoot treatment abnormalities and coordinate corrective actions.
• Manage WWTP chemicals, sludge and environmental records.

STP

• Monitor STP performance and sewage treatment efficiency.
• Ensure proper operation and maintenance of STP equipment.
• Monitor sewage quality and discharge compliance.
• Coordinate desludging, maintenance and corrective actions.
• Maintain STP operational and compliance records.

Scheduled Waste

• Manage scheduled waste from generation until storage, collection and disposal.
• Ensure correct waste classification, labelling, packaging and segregation.
• Monitor the scheduled waste storage area and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with DOE requirements and eSWIS records.
• Coordinate with licensed scheduled-waste contractors.
• Monitor waste manifests, consignment records and disposal documentation.
• Conduct scheduled waste inspections.
• Maintain environmental legal and compliance registers.
• Coordinate DOE inspections, environmental monitoring and regulatory submissions.
• Support ISO 14001 audits and environmental aspect/impact evaluations.
• Investigate environmental incidents, spills, non-compliances and abnormal discharge.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions and monitor effectiveness.
• Prepare environmental KPI and performance reports for management.
