Job summary

ASUMO is seeking an entry-level Kitchen Helper to support our culinary team in Subang Jaya. The role focuses on food preparation, cleanliness, and adherence to safety standards, with learning opportunities from experienced chefs.

Candidates with basic cooking knowledge, good communication in English and Malay, and a positive, team-oriented attitude are encouraged. Fresh graduates are welcome, and training is provided to help you grow in a fast-paced kitchen.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills in English & Bahasa Malaysia.
• Candidate possesses at least a SPM or above.
• Previous kitchen experience is a plus, but entry-level candidates are welcome.
• Fresh graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
• A passion for cooking and willingness to learn from experienced chefs.
• Good understanding of kitchen safety and hygiene standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Detail oriented person
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude and able to work independently with minimum supervision

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with food preparation, including washing, peeling or chopping.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries of food and supplies.
• Empty garbage bins and dispose of waste properly.
• Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently according to the Senior Chef's instructions.
• Ensure food is prepared to a high standard in terms of presentations, taste and quality.
• Assist with the setup, operations and cleaning of kitchen equipment and work area after each use.
• Always maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstations and storage area,
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations strictly, ensuring a clean, safe kitchen environment.

• Monitor the quality of ingredients and report any issues to the senior Chef.
• Help with plating and presentation of dishes in line with restaurant standards.
• Support senior chefs and kitchen staff during busy service times by assisting with basic cooking tasks.
• Keep track of inventory and assist in ordering food items when necessary.
• Maintain a professional attitude and contribute to the teamwork and morale of the kitchen
