OSI Optoelectronics is seeking an Engineering Director who will be responsible lead the team of Managers, Engineers and Technicians handling New Product Introduction (NPI), Manufacturing Processes, Testing, and Equipment.Manages the Engineering functions in the Assembly, Packaging & Testing of Optoelectronics device manufacturing as well as PCB Assembly lines including box builds and testing.Ensures high product yields at optimum production efficiency by introducing innovative technologies to maximize the productivity while reducing the reworks & rejects.
Responsibilities
- Oversees Engineering activities to provide sustaining support to Manufacturing for Process and Test Engineering functions, with the objective of optimizing production cycle time and improving product yields.
- Leads New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including prototype development, process validation, product qualification, and establishment of mass production according to project schedules.
- Oversees hardware and software development activities related to the design and development of test setups for manufactured products.
- Collaborates with the Engineering teams of global sister companies and customers to coordinate technology transfers, new product introductions, first article approvals, pilot-scale production, and transitions to high-volume manufacturing.
- Monitors and controls project schedules and costs, ensuring adherence to timelines, effective deployment of Engineering resources, capacity assessment, and periodic status reporting to Management.
- Leads the hiring, training, and mentoring of Engineers while organizing the Engineering team to achieve optimum performance and meet Engineering objectives aligned with organizational goals.
- Oversees NPI activities, BOM obsolescence management, Engineering changes, system-level documentation reviews, and approval of labor quotations.
- Coordinates failure analysis activities with internal teams, customers, and external laboratories to address customer complaints and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Develops strategic roadmaps and plans to keep pace with technological advancements in optoelectronics, microelectronics, PCBA, and box-level assembly.
- Identifies and sources key equipment to support assembly and test automation, evaluates economic feasibility, and submits purchase proposals to senior management.
- Organizes, drives, motivates, and evaluates the Engineering team's performance to achieve departmental and company-wide objectives.

Qualifications
- Bachelor of Electronics Engineering or equivalent, Post-Graduate degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Should have about 20+ years of experience out of which about 10 years’ experience in senior management position, in Semiconductor Industry.
- Experience/knowledge in Optoelectronics components manufacturing will be an added advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of business processes and Engineering Management.
- Excellent people management experience, including the ability to hire, evaluate and motivate.
- Effective communication and presentation skills to properly communicate complex information to cross functional teams as well as to customers and vendors.
- Communicates well with technical and non-technical personnel to convey the point effectively.
- Clear and decisive leader with ability to influence and achieve results in a global organization.
- Effectively prioritizes & manages multiple tasks with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong working knowledge of quality systems and risk management.
