Job summary

Setel Ventures Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to build scalable, reliable infrastructure and reduce toil. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliability improvements across deployments and integrations.

You should have 2+ years of SRE or software engineering experience, strong Git skills, AWS expertise, and hands-on containerization with Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of databases, CI/CD, and IaC will help you succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in site reliability engineering or software engineering.
• Proficiency in version control systems like Git.
• Proficiency in cloud technology especially AWS services.
• Proficiency in containerisation such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in NoSQL, SQL, event, queue and cache databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis).
• Basic knowledge in infrastructure as code (IaC) and CI/CD tech (Terraform, GitOps, ArgoCD).
• Basic knowledge in monitoring tools (Vector, Loki, Tempo, OpenTelemetry, VictoriaMetrics/Prometheus, Grafana).
• Basic networking and security knowledge (load balancing, firewalls, encryption).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the deployment and maintenance of infrastructure components including Kubernetes clusters, databases, monitoring stacks, CI/CD platforms, networks and firewalls.
• Ensure documentation quality and conduct reviews to support project execution.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines to improve developer experience and delivery speed and safety.
• Review team deliverables for adherence to best practices and guide juniors.
• Adhere to company policies and assist with tasks and projects as needed.

Job description

Setel serves customers across Malaysia by powering one app as the constant companion to ease motorists’ journey across fueling, parking, EV charging, motor insurance, road tax, auto assistance, general purchases, and more across an ecosystem of PETRONAS petrol stations, retail partners, and online merchants.

Role Purpose:

The Engineer, Site Reliability contributes to scalable and reliable infrastructure while eliminating operational toil. Collaborate and support teams on improvements and integrations in delivering reliability and project objectives.

In this role you will:

• Support the deployment and maintenance of infrastructure components which include Kubernetes clusters, database clusters, monitoring stacks, CICD platforms, networks and firewalls to ensure high reliability, secure, compliant and cost efficient platforms.
• Ensure the quality of documentation and conduct reviews to support project execution and serve as a reference.
• Maintain CICD pipelines to improve developer experience and ensure safer and faster delivery.
• Review team members' deliverables by evaluating adherence to best practices and standards to ensure high-quality software delivery and guide juniors.
• General Responsibilities: All employees are required to ensure adherence to the compliance of company policies, industry regulations and legal requirements. All employees are expected to assist with tasks, projects, and other duties related to the role, as and when deemed necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
• Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
