Job summary

Lynas Rare Earths Limited in Kuantan, Malaysia, is seeking a Civil Engineer to join the Maintenance Department at LAMP. You will manage assigned projects, prepare business justification reports, perform basic and detailed design work, and oversee construction and installation processes.

Responsibilities include planning plant improvement projects, preparing schedules and SOWs, evaluating contractors, supervising implementations, and providing technical support to operations to improve plant

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with strong working knowledge in engineering field, technical assurance principles & procedures, maintenance & reliability practises, design & installation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, study, source, and execute plant improvement projects, including preparing project schedules, defining scopes of work (SOW), preparing tender documentation, evaluating contractors, and supervising project implementation to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and operational requirements.
• Provide technical and engineering support to operations and maintenance teams, troubleshoot equipment issues, oversee preventive maintenance activities (including plant facilities such as air conditioning), and develop engineering solutions to address repetitive failures and improve plant reliability and efficiency.
• Conduct equipment reliability studies, participate in failure investigations, track MTBF and corrective actions, monitor project and maintenance costs, and initiate cost-saving and performance improvement initiatives to enhance plant operations.

Requirements of the successful candidate:

• Demonstrate the ability to work more effectively at the site, leading to increase productivity and efficiency for preventive maintenance compared to corrective maintenance.
• Positive working attitude toward responsibility and task given.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to confidently interact with people of all cultures at all levels.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Additional language will be an advantage.
• Must be willing to work in Kuantan, Malaysia.
