Job summary

Lynas Rare Earths Limited in Kuantan, Malaysia is seeking a skilled Mechanical & Piping Engineer to lead the design and execution of heavy manufacturing projects, focusing on static and rotating equipment and project management from FEL/FEED to handover and commissioning.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience, strong knowledge of NFPA, ANSI, ASME, API, AS/NZ standards, and be fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years' experience in engineering design and plant construction projects for heavy/large processing industries.
• Hands-on experience in Project Management, Mechanical design (Machinery, Piping and Static equipment).
• Knowledge of codes and standards (NFPA, ANSI, ASME, API, AS/NZ, ISO).
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and execution of mechanical and piping projects involving static and rotating equipment.
• Manage project activities including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and documentation.
• Review and develop drawings, P&IDs, specifications to ensure design integrity and operability.
• Provide hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and reliability improvements for mechanical systems.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure timely completion of deliverables.

An opportunity exists for skillful Mechanical & Piping Engineer to join our team in Kuantan plant.He/ She must have hands on experience in designing static and rotating equipment and Project Management execution both, small and large scale of capital projects, either greenfield and or brownfield in heavy/ manufacturing industries.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Lead the design, development, and execution of mechanical and piping engineering projects involving static and rotating equipment in compliance with technical, operational, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage project activities including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and project documentation to ensure successful project delivery.
• Review and develop engineering drawings, P&IDs, technical specifications, and layouts to ensure design integrity, operability, maintainability, and quality compliance.
• Provide hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and reliability improvement for mechanical and piping systems to support safe and efficient operations.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure effective project execution, risk management, and timely completion of deliverables.

Requirements of the successful candidate:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields with minimum 5 years' experience in the engineering design and plant construction project for heavy or large processing industry.
• Hands on experience in Project Management, Mechanical design (Machinery, Piping and Static equipment) from project definition, FEL/FEED, DED, project execution.
• Strong knowledge of best engineering practices, codes and standards (NFPA, ANSI, ASME, API, AS/NZ STANDARD, ISO) and use of engineering software.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to confidently interact with people of all cultures at all levels.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Additional language will be an advantage.
• Must be willing to work in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia.
