Job summary

Lynas Rare Earths Limited in Kuantan invites a Surveyor Engineer to join the Radiation Safety Department (By-Product) to support site surveys, boundary establishment, and design conformance at LAMP, Kuantan.

Responsibilities include field surveying with Total Station and GNSS, drone photogrammetry, GIS data processing, and terrain analyses to aid civil engineering design. 2–5 years in civil construction is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geomatics/Land Surveying/Geospatial/Civil Engineering with 2–5 years’ civil construction experience.
• Proficient in surveying equipment and interpretation of technical drawings.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English; additional languages advantageous.
• Willing to work in Kuantan, Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and supervise topographic, engineering, setting-out, and as-built surveys.
• Conduct aerial surveys and drone photogrammetry for terrain data and orthophoto generation.
• Process survey data with GIS to manage, analyse, visualise, and interpret spatial datasets.
• Generate DEM, DTM, Contour maps and terrain analyses from LiDAR, UAV, and survey data.
• Assist engineering teams with route alignments studies, corridor analysis, earthwork planning.

Job description

An opportunity exists for 1 Surveyor Engineer to join Radiation Safety Department (By-Product) at LAMP, Kuantan. He/she will be responsible to gather data for creating accurate site plans, establishing the boundaries, and ensuring construction adheres to design specification and legal compliance.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Plan, execute, and supervise topographic, engineering, setting-out, and as-built surveys using Total Station, RTK/GNSS/GPS equipment, digital levels, and related survey instruments.
• Conduct aerial surveys and drone-based photogrammetry works for terrain data acquisition, orthophoto generation, and volumetric calculations where applicable.
• Process survey data and utilize GIS software such as ArcGIS and QGIS to manage, analyse, visualise, and interpret spatial datasets.
• Generate accurate DEM, DTM, Contour maps, TIN surface, and terrain analysis outputs from LiDAR, UAV, and conventional survey data to support civil and geotechnical engineering design.
• Assist engineering teams in route alignments studies, corridor analysis, earthwork planning, and infrastructure spatial evaluations.

Requirements of the successful candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geomatics/Land Surveying/Geospatial/Civil Engineering with 2 to 5 years’ working experience in civil construction with strong proficiency in applicable engineering software.
• Able to operate surveying equipment, interpret technical drawing and high level understanding the mapping, surveying techniques and spatial data principles.
• Positive working attitude toward responsibility and task given.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to confidently interact with people of all cultures at all levels.
• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Additional language will be an advantage.
• Must be willing to work in Kuantan, Malaysia.
