Job summary

SmartHire by SEEK is seeking an Electrical System Control Engineer for an on‑site role in Shah Alam, Selangor. You will work across electrical and instrumentation design, automation programming, IoT solutions, testing and commissioning within a small team.

The position requires a degree in Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation & Control, 2–5 years of relevant experience, and hands‑on PLC/SCADA/HMI programming skills. Willingness to travel locally and overseas is expected.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation and Control Engineering or related field.
• Hands‑on experience with PLC, SCADA and HMI or touch‑screen systems.
• Experience with low‑voltage MCC and VFD systems is advantageous.
• Familiarity with IoT data collection, storage and analytics is beneficial.
• Willingness to travel locally and overseas and have own transport.

Job description

Our client is seeking an Electrical System Control Engineer to join their team!

This is an opportunity for an Electrical System Control Engineer to work across electrical and instrumentation design, automation programming, IoT solutions, testing, commissioning and project coordination. Based on‑site in Shah Alam, Selangor, this full‑time role offers hands‑on exposure to PLC, SCADA, HMI and industrial control projects within a collaborative six‑person team, with local and overseas travel required for project delivery.

What you'll be doing?

• E&I design: Prepare and review electrical and instrumentation designs and drawings, supporting accurate and effective project delivery.
• Automation programming: Design and develop PLC, touch‑screen and SCADA programming for automation and control systems.
• IoT solutions: Develop data collection, storage and processing strategies, then apply analytics and visualisation tools to generate useful insights from IoT data.
• Acceptance testing: Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests to validate system performance and readiness.
• System support: Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, testing and commissioning work across project systems.
• Project coordination: Coordinate activities within the department and with other departments to support on‑time, on‑budget project completion.

Who are they looking for?

• Engineering qualification: A minimum Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrument and Control Engineering or a related field is required.
• Relevant experience: 2–5 years of working experience as Electrical System Control Engineer.
• PLC, SCADA and HMI skills: Hands‑on experience programming PLC, SCADA and HMI or touch‑screen systems is essential for delivering the role's core responsibilities.
• Troubleshooting capability: Strong troubleshooting skills in PLC, instrumentation and MCC systems, together with the ability to interpret wiring diagrams, loop drawings and MCC schematics, are important.
• Electrical and instrumentation knowledge: Experience with low‑voltage MCC and VFD systems, instrumentation and control valves will be an added advantage.
• IoT exposure: Experience with IoT system solutions, including data collection, storage, processing, analytics or visualisation, will be beneficial.
• Travel and mobility: Willingness to travel locally and overseas, including to project sites, is required; candidates must also have their own transport and a valid driving licence.
