Job summary

TSH Resources Berhad is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to provide E&I support for palm oil mill projects, CIP initiatives and estate works in Malaysia. The role covers design, evaluation, sizing, procurement and commissioning with emphasis on IoT-enabled and AI-driven smart mills.

The ideal candidate has a degree in electrical/instrumentation fields and 3–5 years of relevant industrial experience, with hands-on skills in PLC/SCADA, MCCs, VFDs and control systems, and the

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in industrial plants, palm oil mills, utilities or project engineering.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, control drawings and P&IDs.
• Experience with PLC/SCADA, industrial networks or IoT systems is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Carry out E&I evaluations, equipment sizing, and design for automation systems.
• Prepare and standardise E&I designs, datasheets, BOMs and drawings.
• Review proposals and coordinate with consultants, suppliers, mill teams and estate teams.
• Support project execution, site inspections, testing and commissioning.
• Develop standard E&I practices and guidelines for mills and estates.

Job description

Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer

To provide E&I engineering support for palm oil mill projects, CIP initiatives and estate E&I related works. The role covers technical evaluation, equipment sizing, design review, specification standardisation, project implementation and commissioning, while supporting the development of IoT-enabled and AI-driven smart palm oil mills with estates.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out technical evaluations, equipment selection, and sizing for E&I with automation systems.
• Prepare, review and standardise E&I designs, technical specifications, equipment datasheets, bills of materials and engineering drawings.
• Provide relevance engineering input. Exp: power distribution, MCCs, motors, VFDs, cables, protection systems, earthing and electrical load assessments.
• Evaluate instrumentation and control requirements, including sensors, transmitters, meters, control valves, PLCs, HMI and SCADA system. Minor programming knowledge required.
• Review vendor proposals and technical submissions, and coordinate with consultants, suppliers, contractors, mill teams and estate teams.
• Support project execution, site inspections, installation supervision, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and handover.
• Support CIP projects by identifying opportunities to improve reliability, energy efficiency, process control, safety and maintainability.
• Develop and implement standard E&I practices, design templates and technical guidelines for consistent application across mills and estates.
• Support IoT and smart mill with estate initiatives, including real-time data collection, equipment monitoring, system integration and data readiness for AI applications.
• Ensure E&I work complies with applicable statutory requirements in both Malaysia with Indonesia, company standards, project specifications and safety requirements.
• Undertake site visits and other duties related to E&I engineering and project delivery as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Preferably 3-5 years of relevant experience in industrial plants, palm oil mills, utilities, power generation or project engineering.
• Good working knowledge of electrical distribution, motor control, instrumentation and industrial automation.
• Able to interpret and review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, control drawings, P&IDs and technical specifications.
• Experience with PLC/SCADA, industrial communication networks or IoT systems is an advantage.
• Strong technical evaluation, problem-solving, documentation and coordination skills.
• Able to work independently, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and take ownership of assigned tasks.
• Willing to travel to palm oil mills and estate sites when required.

Added Advantage

Experience in palm oil mill operations, renewable energy/biogas, data acquisition, predictive maintenance or AI-enabled industrial optimisation.
