Job summary

GS Paperboard & Packaging Sdn Bhd is seeking an Electrical & Instrument Technician to join our engineering team in Banting, Selangor. You will install, maintain and test electrical systems and instrumentation to support our paperboard and packaging manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of hands-on experience, a relevant electrical discipline, and the ability to troubleshoot and calibrate instrumentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on electrical maintenance and instrumentation in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control circuits and PLC basics.
• Proficiency with diagnostic and testing equipment.
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to industrial settings.
• Ability to work across departments and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission and maintain electrical systems, control panels and wiring.
• Test and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation equipment to identify faults.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical machinery, motors, transformers and breakers.
• Calibrate and maintain instrumentation devices including sensors and controllers.
• Respond promptly to equipment failures to restore operation and minimize downtime.
• Carry out repairs and replacements of faulty components and document maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with operations staff to identify improvements and maintain records.

About the role

GS Paperboard & Packaging Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrical & Instrument Technician to join our engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Banting Selangor (near KLIA2/Kota Warisan). In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing and repair of electrical systems and instrumentation equipment that are critical to our paperboard and packaging manufacturing operations. You will play a vital part in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our production facilities, working collaboratively with our operations and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and optimize performance.

Key responsibilities

Install, commission and maintain electrical systems, control panels and wiring in accordance with relevant safety standards and technical specifications

Test and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation equipment to identify faults and implement corrective actions

Perform preventative maintenance on electrical machinery, motors, transformers, circuit breakers and related components

Calibrate and maintain instrumentation devices including sensors, pressure gauges, temperature controllers and analytical instruments

Respond promptly to equipment failures and emergency breakdowns to restore operational functionality

Carry out repairs and replacements of faulty electrical and instrumentation components

Document maintenance activities, test results and equipment performance in maintenance records and logs

Collaborate with operations staff to identify potential improvements to electrical systems and instrumentation reliability

Adhere to all health and safety regulations and best practices within the workplace

Assist with training of junior technicians and sharing technical knowledge with the broader team

What we’re looking for

Formal qualification in electrical engineering, electrical technology or instrumentation (National Diploma, Higher National Certificate or equivalent)

Minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in electrical maintenance and instrumentation in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control circuits, PLC programming basics and instrumentation principles

Proficiency in using diagnostic and testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and pressure testers

Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and electrical safety standards relevant to industrial settings

Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex electrical and instrumentation faults

Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with the capability to work effectively across departments

Physical fitness to perform fieldwork and access equipment in various locations within the facility

Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate maintenance records

Preferred experience with paperboard, packaging or similar manufacturing processes
