Job summary

GS Paperboard & Packaging Sdn Bhd, based in Banting, Selangor, is seeking a Mechanical Manager to lead its engineering team. The role oversees mechanical operations, maintenance strategies, and reliability of equipment to support paperboard and packaging production.

You will manage a team, drive continuous improvement, ensure safety standards, and coordinate with production to minimize downtime. The position is full-time and requires strong leadership and maintenance expertise.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• 8–10 years in mechanical engineering or maintenance, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance practices in manufacturing.
• Experience with predictive and preventive maintenance.
• Budget management and cost control experience.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills.
• Strong communication with cross-functional teams and senior management.
• Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA or local requirements).

Responsibilities

• Oversee all mechanical equipment and systems to ensure reliable operation.
• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules.
• Lead the mechanical maintenance team with guidance and performance management.
• Conduct inspections to ensure safety and compliance with standards.
• Manage maintenance budgets and equipment procurement.
• Coordinate with production to minimize downtime and disruptions.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement reliability improvements.
• Plan major equipment upgrades and capital projects.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and spare parts inventories.
