Job summary

EcoCeres, Inc. is seeking an experienced Maintenance Lead to ensure reliability and safe operation of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems across the plant in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia.

You will head a team of technicians delivering preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance while meeting safety, regulatory, and efficiency targets. The role requires a Diploma or technical certification in electrical/instrumentation, a BO Chargeman credential (advantage), and at least 10 years in

Qualifications

  • Diploma or professional technical certification in electrical/instrumentation engineering from a recognized institution.
  • BO Chargeman certification issued by the Energy Commission Malaysia is an added advantage.
  • Additional competency certifications related to electrical or instrumentation maintenance are advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance in manufacturing or heavy industries.
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical distribution systems and equipment.
  • Proficient in CMMS and industrial instrumentation systems, including sensors and analyzers.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance activities for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Ensure work is performed to approved procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify reliability improvements.
  • Lead troubleshooting and fault diagnosis to restore operations quickly.
  • Participate in RCA investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Inspect equipment and ensure timely follow-ups on defects.
  • Prioritize and manage work orders based on priorities and constraints.
  • Coordinate with planners to ensure availability of manpower, tools, and parts.
  • Support plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency maintenance events.
  • Oversee LOTO, switching, and electrical isolation complying with safety rules.
  • Maintain calibration and verification records for critical instruments.

Job Summary

You are responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, safety, and efficiency of all electrical systems, instrumentation, and control equipment across the plant. The role leads a team of technicians in executing preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, safety requirements, maintenance standards, and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including corrective, preventive, predictive, inspection, testing, and shutdown maintenance.
  • Ensure maintenance work is executed according to approved procedures, quality standards, and work instructions.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, availability, and maintainability.
  • Lead troubleshooting and fault diagnosis activities for electrical and instrumentation equipment and ensure timely restoration of operations.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring failures.
  • Conduct equipment inspections, identify defects, and ensure timely follow-up actions are completed.
  • Manage and prioritize work orders based on operational requirements and maintenance priorities.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Planner to ensure manpower, tools, materials, permits, and spare parts are available before work execution.
  • Support maintenance shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency maintenance activities.
  • Verify completed maintenance work with relevant stakeholders before work order closure.
  • Ensure full compliance with electrical safety regulations, company policies, permit-to-work requirements, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and switching procedures.
  • Supervise electrical isolation, switching operations, functional testing, and loop checking activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with statutory, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices are consistently followed by the maintenance team.
  • Maintain calibration, testing, and verification records for critical instruments and equipment as required.
  • Lead, supervise, and coach electrical and instrumentation technicians to achieve maintenance objectives.
  • Assign work responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Foster teamwork, discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
  • Identify training and competency development needs to enhance team capability and performance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of maintenance activities, equipment history, failure analysis, and corrective actions in the maintenance management system.
  • Prepare daily maintenance updates, breakdown reports, and periodic performance reports.
  • Maintain proper documentation of maintenance records, inspection reports, calibration certificates, and statutory compliance records.
  • Review and authorize requests for maintenance materials, spare parts, and consumables within approved authority limits.
  • Support spare parts planning and inventory optimization to ensure critical items are available for maintenance activities.
  • Initiate purchase requisitions for urgent material requirements when necessary and follow approval procedures.
  • Support plant commissioning, modification, and improvement projects related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Head of Department.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma or Professional Technical Certification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
  • Certified BO Chargeman issued by the Energy Commission Malaysia is an added advantage.
  • Additional competency certifications related to electrical or instrumentation maintenance are advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, refinery, or heavy industrial environments.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical supply and distribution systems.
  • Good understanding of electrical motors, transformers, switchgears, protection systems, variable speed drives, and power distribution equipment.
  • Proficient in industrial instrumentation systems, including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical instruments.
  • Knowledge of instrument calibration, verification, functional testing, loop checking, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiarity with PLC, DCS, building automation systems, and industrial control systems.
  • Understanding of maintenance strategies, including preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Effective planning, organizing, and coordination abilities.
  • Good problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in maintenance documentation, reporting, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
