Job summary

Thong Guan Industries Berhad is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to lead and supervise electrical maintenance in our Kedah plant, ensuring safe and efficient operation of HT/LV systems. You will troubleshoot breakdowns, plan preventive maintenance, and coordinate contractors while working with Energy Manager on energy-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of relevant electrical maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of HT/LV systems, motor control, switchboards and distribution.
• Experience supervising contractors and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe plant operation.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Plan and monitor preventive maintenance for electrical equipment and systems.
• Monitor HT/LV systems, switchboards, transformers, MCC, motors and other equipment.
• Coordinate contractors during maintenance, installation and upgrading works.
• Ensure electrical work complies with safety requirements and regulations.
• Maintain records of maintenance, inspections and repairs.
• Support machinery installation, commissioning, and engineering projects.
• Collaborate with Energy Manager on energy-saving initiatives.
• Provide guidance to technicians and maintenance staff.

Job description

Join a well-established plastic manufacturing company in a role responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting and reliable operation of electrical systems and equipment within the manufacturing plant. You will lead and supervise electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient plant operation, with exposure to HT/LV electrical systems, energy management, and involvement in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise electrical maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient plant operation
• Troubleshoot electrical breakdowns and carry out corrective actions to minimize production downtime
• Plan and monitor preventive maintenance for electrical equipment and systems
• Monitor and maintain HT/LV electrical systems, switchboards, transformers, MCC, motors and other plant electrical equipment
• Coordinate and supervise electrical contractors during maintenance, installation and upgrading works
• Ensure all electrical installations and maintenance activities comply with safety requirements, company procedures and statutory regulations
• Maintain proper records of electrical maintenance, inspection and repair activities
• Support machinery installation, commissioning, upgrading and engineering improvement projects
• Work closely with the Energy Manager on energy-saving and energy-efficiency initiatives
• Provide technical guidance to technicians, chargemen and maintenance personnel

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent
• Preferably 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, maintenance or manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, maintenance and troubleshooting
• Experience with HT/LV systems, motors, MCC, switchboards and electrical distribution systems
• Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices
• Knowledge of electrical safety requirements and statutory regulations
• Experience in supervising contractors and/or maintenance teams
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently as well as in a team
