Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an EHS professional to develop, implement, and maintain the company’s safety and environmental management systems. The role requires monitoring of high-risk activities, investigations into incidents, and coordination of health programs and training.

The successful candidate will oversee contractor safety, audits, and regulatory visits while promoting a proactive safety culture across the plant and ensuring compliance with all safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the Company’s EHS policies, procedures and management systems.
• Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, occupational safety and health requirements.
• Conduct workplace inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments for factory operations.
• Monitor machinery safety, chemical handling, forklift movement, work-at-height activities and other high-risk work.
• Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, occupational illnesses and near misses, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Manage scheduled waste, general waste, emissions, noise, wastewater, spills and other environmental matters.
• Coordinate occupational health programmes, workplace monitoring, medical surveillance and first-aid arrangements.
• Develop and maintain emergency response, fire prevention, evacuation and crisis-management procedures.
• Plan and conduct EHS training, safety induction, toolbox briefings and awareness programmes.
• Manage contractor and visitor safety, including permit-to-work and site-compliance requirements.
• Coordinate Safety and Health Committee activities, audits, inspections and regulatory visits.
• Prepare monthly EHS reports, monitor performance indicators and advise Management on risks and improvements.
• Ensure employees use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow safe operating procedures.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement throughout the Company.
• Stop or suspend any activity that presents an immediate and serious risk to people, property or the environment.
