Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an EHS Coordinator to drive daily safety and environmental initiatives in a manufacturing setting in Penang. You will conduct inspections, manage corrective actions, and ensure compliance with Malaysian EHS regulations across production and office areas.

The role requires a Diploma/degree in Safety, Health, or related fields with 1–3 years of experience. Strong communication, coordination, and MS Office skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in EHS/OSH, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian occupational safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience in manufacturing, particularly metal fabrication, welding, stamping, or machining, is an advantage.
  • Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Able to conduct workplace inspections and prepare EHS reports.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily EHS activities and ensure compliance with company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
  • Follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor safe operations involving machinery, welding, stamping, machining, lifting equipment, and other production activities.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safety equipment.
  • Monitor environmental practices, including scheduled waste, chemical storage, waste disposal, and pollution prevention.
  • Maintain proper records for scheduled waste and environmental-related activities.
  • Coordinate environmental inspections and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain chemical inventories, SDS, labels, and storage requirements.
  • Ensure proper segregation, handling, storage, and disposal of scheduled waste.
  • Monitor chemical usage and workplace chemical safety requirements.
  • Organize and coordinate EHS training, toolbox meetings, and safety awareness programs.
  • Maintain training records and ensure employees receive required safety briefings.
  • Promote good safety practices among production and office employees.
  • Assist in investigating workplace accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Prepare incident reports and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills and emergency response procedures.
  • Assist with first aid, fire safety, and emergency response arrangements.
  • Maintain EHS records, inspection checklists, reports, permits, certificates, and training documentation.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant Malaysian EHS laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, and other relevant authorities when required.
  • Support internal and external EHS audits.
  • Monitor housekeeping and workplace conditions.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems, where applicable.
  • Work closely with HR, Production, Maintenance, and other departments on EHS matters.
