FLEXTRONICS TECHNOLOGY (PENANG) SDN BHD is seeking an EH&S Engineer in Bukit Minyak, Penang. You will develop and monitor safety programs, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations, guiding departments on equipment safety and fire prevention.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environment or Health Sciences and at least 4 years in EH&S, including SHO (Green Book) and CePSWAM certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environment or Health Sciences.
• Minimum 4 years of EH&S experience.
• SHO (Green Book) and CePSWAM certification.
• Knowledge of regulatory codes and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Consult with departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs.
• Review plans for new machinery to ensure safety precautions are included.
• Inspect plant for hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Define safety clothing requirements and install safety devices on machinery.
• Conduct or coordinate safety training for emergency policies and practices.
• Investigate industrial accidents and prepare reports.
• Conduct air quality tests for harmful gases and vapors.
• Identify health and safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise business units on ergonomics, hazardous materials and fire safety.
• Audit business units and coordinate with vendors and engineers.

Job description

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an EH&S Engineer located in Bukit Minyak, Penang.

Reporting to the EHS Manager the EH&S Engineer role in charge of developing, implementing, and monitoring company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

What a typical day looks like:

Consults with all departments on design and use of equipment, fire prevention and safety programs.

Examines plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to define if all safety precautions have been included.

Tours plant to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Define requirements for safety clothing and devices, and designs, builds, and installs or directs installation of safety devices on machinery.

Conducts or coordinates safety training to educate workers about emergency acknowledge, safety policies, laws and practices.

Investigates industrial accidents to minimize recurrence and prepares accident reports.

Conducts air quality tests for presence of harmful gases and vapors.

In charge of identifying health and safety hazards and recommending corrective actions.

Serves as internal consultant to business units on ergonomics, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene and fire and chemical safety matters.

Audits business units.

Interfaces with outside vendors, contractors and engineers regarding facilities, chemicals and other workplace health and safety related matters.

Compiles and submits safety reports.

Administers workers compensation, OSHA 2000 log and return to work program.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environment or Health Sciences or equivalent experience in EH&S and knowledge of related regulations, codes, and guidelines.

Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in EH&S or related positions.

Requires SHO (Green Book) & Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWAM).
