Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Server Tech Services Engineer to help maintain its mega scale global internet platform infrastructure. You will diagnose hardware and network issues remotely, support Akamai's Edge Platform across APJ, and collaborate with field engineers and vendors.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and at least 1 year in fault diagnosis, with familiarity in OSI model, Unix/Linux CLI, and data center technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in technology or related field or relevant Professional Experience
• Have 1+ years of hands-on network and server hardware experience in fault diagnosis
• Have basic knowledge of server hardware technologies such as types of hard drives, RAMs, motherboards and RAID
• Have basic knowledge of layer 1 and 2 troubleshooting skills, OSI Model and Unix/Linux command-line interface (CLI)
• Have exposure to Data center technologies and infrastructure
• Be able to to maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, third party service providers and vendors
• Demonstrate exceptional analytical skills, the ability to systematically gather relevant information and use that information to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Be able to occasionally work in non-office hours

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing hardware and network issues remotely
• Facilitating server repairs working with ISP and Field Engineers to fix those issues
• Coordinating return of Akamai equipment back to the warehouse/vendors
• Working with the hardware engineering team to identify and resolve different types of hardware issues occurring after the equipment are deployed
• Monitoring hardware failure patterns and proactively reporting to Hardware Engineering and vendors
• Managing Akamai's hardware assets
