Qualifications

Job description

AM Steel Enterprise is looking for a versatile Drafter & Machine Operator to support our manufacturing and fabrication operations. This dual-function role is ideal for someone who can read technical designs, prepare accurate 2D/3D shop drawings, and operate machinery to fabricate high-quality steel products.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Design:

Create detailed technical drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication layouts using AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

Review blueprints, specifications, and dimensions before production begins.

Modify existing drawings based on client requirements or engineer feedback.

Machine Operation:

Set up, program, and operate steel fabrication machinery (e.g., CNC, laser cutting, bending, or punching machines).

Load raw materials, monitor equipment during production, and perform basic quality checks on finished parts.

Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on machines to ensure smooth operation.

Production & Coordination:

Coordinate with production teams to ensure drawings match actual shop floor capabilities.

Maintain precise records of material usage, drafting logs, and production output.

Requirements

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of combined experience in technical drafting and machine operation within the steel, metal fabrication, or manufacturing industry.

Education:

Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Drafting, Engineering, Metal Fabrication, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in AutoCAD (2D/3D); knowledge of SolidWorks or similar CAD software is a plus.

Hands-on experience operating shop machinery (CNC, cutting, bending, or shearing machines).

Ability to read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
