Job summary

Nalco Water – Light Division, an Ecolab company, is seeking a District Representative to help industrial customers improve water, energy, operational efficiency and sustainability in Selangor, Malaysia. This field-based role involves visiting customer sites more than 50% of the time and developing opportunities across assigned territory.

You will work with engineers, technicians and service teams to address customer needs, prepare quotations, and monitor the sales pipeline while ensuring safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering/Technology, or a relevant technical discipline.
• Strong communication skills in Malay and English.
• Willingness to work in manufacturing and industrial environments with field-based visits.
• Valid driving license and own transport.
• Fresh graduates are not eligible; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Develop new business opportunities through prospecting, customer visits, referrals and lead follow-up.
• Manage assigned customer accounts and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
• Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate water treatment, equipment, monitoring and service solutions.
• Prepare quotations, proposals and business review materials.
• Work closely with engineers, technical specialists, field service and customer service teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Monitor sales pipeline, customer activities and forecasts, and provide regular updates to management.
• Conduct customer site visits and support troubleshooting, trials, start-ups and optimisation initiatives.
• Communicate the value delivered to customers, including improvements in reliability, safety, compliance, water and energy savings, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with customer site requirements, safety procedures and PPE standards.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering/Technology, Industrial/Process Technology, or a relevant technical discipline.

• Strong communication skills in Malay and English, both written and verbal.

• Basic understanding of water systems such as boilers, cooling towers and closed-loop systems.

• Strong hands-on capability and willingness to work with equipment and tools.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with engineers and internal teams.

• Valid driving license and own transport.

• Physically fit and comfortable working in manufacturing and industrial environments, including field-based activities and handling chemicals.

• Candidates with experience in technical sales, industrial services, water treatment, manufacturing or process industries will be preferred.

• Fresh graduates are not eligible for this position; however, training will be provided for candidates with a strong learning mindset.
