Job summary

TFE (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Designer Draftsman (BIM Modelling) based in Batu Kawan to lead BIM modelling and drafting activities across project stages from concept to construction. You will maintain SOPs, manage drafting works and ensure drawings comply with design specs.

Requirements include 3+ years BIM experience in Engineering/Construction, a Diploma/Degree in Building Drafting or related field, and a strong command of AutoCAD and BIM tools. Malaysians only.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years relevant hands-on experience in BIM modelling for Engineering/Construction industry, preferably with Main-Con or M&E or other engineering services company.
• Diploma or Degree in Building Drafting/Mechanical Engineering or other equivalent qualifications. Candidates without the relevant qualifications but with relevant work experience may also be considered.
• Candidates with more experience may be considered for senior roles.
• Have core competency in HVAC System, Plumbing & Sanitary System, M&E & CSA systems.
• Experienced in 2D & 3D Autocad and/or BIM drawings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Drafting SOP & templates and provide recommendations for improvements on work processes.
• Responsible in managing all Drafting works for the project assigned including documentation and authority submissions.
• Interpret site survey data, drawings and specifications to produce and prepare technical drawings such as detailed shop drawings, fabricate drawings and as-built drawings.
• Conduct measurements on site to collect data to produce accurate drawings & specifications.
• Review and verify drawings including owner & subcontractor’s drawings to ensure compliance with design specifications and guidelines.
• Coordinate with authorities, engineers, architects, consultants, vendors, main contractors, clients, subcontractors, and other engineering staff to ensure the drawings are in accordance to contract specifications and submitted timely.
• Recommend solutions or improvements to construction design based on site conditions & project requirements.
• Update and comply with the code of practice on electrical, mechanical as required.
• Monitor and inspect construction by conducting site checks to ensure compliance with design documents.
• Attend meetings with our project team, clients, and subcontractors for project related matters.
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Job description

The Designer Draftsman (BIM Modelling), based in Batu Kawan, shall be in charge of developing & integrating technology and design processes across all stages of project development, from conceptual design through to construction, and possess a strong understanding of BIM principles and technical skills.

The scope shall encompass the following:

Maintain Drafting SOP & templates and provide recommendations for improvements on work processes.

Experienced in 2D & 3D Autocad and/or BIM drawings.

Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint.

Able to read & understand engineering documents.

Good organizational and meticulous in work.

Good oral and written communication skills in English (including technical writing and presentations) with ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and senior management staff.

High reliability and integrity in handling confidential information.

Able to work independently with minimum supervision and a dedicated team player.

Able to conduct site measurements & checks when needed.
