Job summary

MG Furniture SDN BHD is seeking a Designer for Children Bed Set to join our Penang design team. Based in Nibong Tebal, you will create innovative, age-appropriate bedsheet designs for children, ensuring safety and market viability.

The role blends creativity with practical manufacturing output and collaboration across departments. You will develop concepts, mood boards, and full artwork packages, while researching trends and coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely, high-quality production.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design, or related field.
• Experience in textile or product design, preferably children’s or home furnishings.
• Proficient in design software and print production concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop original bedsheet designs for children with vibrant colors and playful themes.
• Conduct market research on trends, competitors, and consumer preferences.
• Collaborate with product development and marketing to align with brand and commercial goals.
• Create design concepts and mood boards communicating vision to stakeholders.
• Produce technical specs and artwork for manufacturing, including colour separations and repeats.
• Manage multiple design projects and meet deadlines with high quality.
• Ensure designs comply with safety regulations for children's textiles.
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to oversee production quality.

About the role

MG Furniture SDN BHD is seeking a talented Designer - Children Bed Set to join our dynamic design team. This is a full-time position based in Nibong Tebal, Penang. In this role, you will be responsible for creating innovative, engaging, and age-appropriate bedsheet designs that capture the imagination of children whilst meeting market demands and safety standards. You will play a crucial part in developing our children's product line, ensuring designs are both commercially viable and creatively exceptional.

Key responsibilities

• Develop original and creative bedsheet designs specifically tailored for children, incorporating vibrant colours, playful patterns, and engaging themes
• Conduct market research to identify current trends, competitor offerings, and consumer preferences within the children's textile market
• Collaborate with product development and marketing teams to ensure designs align with brand values and commercial objectives
• Create design concepts and mood boards that communicate design vision and direction to stakeholders
• Produce technical specifications and detailed artwork for manufacturing, including colour separations and pattern repeats
• Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines whilst maintaining high quality standards
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety regulations and standards for children's textiles and bedding products
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to oversee the production process and quality assurance of finished products
• Gather and incorporate feedback from internal teams and clients to refine and improve designs
• Stay informed of industry developments, design movements, and consumer behaviour to maintain design innovation and relevance

What we’re looking for

• Diploma or degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design, or a related field
• Proven experience in textile or product design, preferably within the children's or home furnishings sector
• Strong proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), CorelDRAW, or equivalent design tools
• Demonstrated understanding of print production processes, colour theory, and pattern design
• Excellent artistic and creative skills with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics
• Knowledge of children’s safety standards and regulations in textile manufacturing
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts to both creative and non‑creative audiences
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team whilst also managing independent projects
• Time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
• Experience with CAD software or textile design‑specific programmes would be advantageous
• Portfolio demonstrating previous design work, particularly in children’s or textile design
