Job summary

SOLAR SUNYIELD SDN. BHD. designs and develops Solar PV systems for residential, commercial and industrial projects. You will prepare system layouts, SLDs, electrical drawings and detailed design documentation, and perform sizing and energy yield calculations.

Prepare BOQ/BOM, review site data, and provide on-site technical support during installation and commissioning, ensuring compliance with standards and authority requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Solar PV design experience is highly preferred.
• Experience with Solar PV design, electrical drawings, SLD and sizing.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and solar design software.
• Understanding of electrical standards and safety requirements.

Job description

Design and develop Solar PV systems for residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Prepare system layouts, single-line diagrams (SLD), electrical drawings and detailed design documentation.

Perform solar PV system sizing, energy yield calculations and electrical design calculations.

Select appropriate solar modules, inverters, mounting systems, cables, protection devices and other system components.

Ensure designs comply with relevant technical standards, project specifications and authority requirements.

Review site information, technical data and project requirements to develop suitable Solar PV solutions.

2. BOQ, BOM & Technical Documentation

Prepare accurate Bill of Quantities (BQ), Bill of Materials (BOM) and equipment specifications based on approved designs.

Prepare technical proposals, datasheets, equipment schedules and other engineering documentation.

Review and verify drawings, specifications and technical documents before submission.

Assist the project and procurement teams with technical evaluations and material selection.

3. Project & Site Support

Work closely with the Project Manager, Site Engineer, Site Supervisor and other teams to ensure designs are properly implemented on-site.

Provide technical support and clarification during installation and construction activities.

Conduct site visits and inspections where required to verify site conditions and design requirements.

Review and provide solutions for design-related issues encountered during installation.

Assist with testing and commissioning activities and ensure the installed system matches the approved design.

4. Design Quality & Compliance

Ensure all engineering designs are accurate, practical, cost-effective and suitable for installation.

Conduct design reviews and identify potential technical issues before project execution.

Ensure Solar PV designs meet relevant safety, electrical and engineering requirements.

Maintain proper records of design revisions, calculations, drawings and technical submissions.

Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, contractors and internal teams on technical and design matters.

Support the preparation of technical presentations and client discussions where required.

Provide regular updates on design progress, project requirements and technical issues to management.

Contribute to continuous improvement of Solar PV design standards, processes and engineering practices.

Requirements

Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related engineering field.

Solar PV design experience is highly preferred.

Experience with Solar PV system design, electrical drawings, SLD and system sizing.

Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or relevant solar design software.

Knowledge of Solar PV components, electrical systems and installation practices.

Experience preparing BOM, BQ and technical documentation.

Understanding of relevant electrical standards, safety requirements and authority requirements.

Good analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills.

Able to work independently as well as collaborate with project and site teams.

Willing to travel to project sites when required.
