Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or related)
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar)
• Strong grasp of engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes in carton packaging
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce precise drawings/specifications
• 2–5 years in engineering design, drafting or similar roles
• Knowledge of industry standards/regulations for design and manufacturing
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience in carton/packaging or manufacturing is desirable
• Familiarity with quality assurance and design verification is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed design drawings, technical specifications and engineering documentation using CAD software and industry standards
• Research and analyze project requirements to translate into practical engineering solutions
• Collaborate with production, quality assurance and project management to ensure feasible, cost‑effective designs
• Review and revise designs based on stakeholder feedback from clients and manufacturing teams
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and safety requirements
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate concepts and recommendations

About the role

We are seeking a talented Design Engineer to join our team at CARTON INDUSTRIES (JOHORE) SDN BHD. This is a full-time position based in Johor Bahru, Johor. Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed design drawings, technical specifications and engineering documentation using CAD software and industry standards
• Conduct thorough research and analysis to understand project requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance and project management to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective
• Review and revise designs based on feedback from stakeholders, clients and manufacturing teams
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations and safety requirements
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate design concepts and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
• Support the manufacturing process by providing technical guidance and resolving design-related issues
• Maintain accurate and organised design files and documentation for future reference and compliance

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
• Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design tools
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science and manufacturing processes relevant to the carton and packaging industry
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate technical drawings and specifications
• 2-5 years of experience in engineering design, technical drafting or a related role
• Solid knowledge of industry standards and regulations applicable to design and manufacturing
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and implement practical engineering solutions
• Experience in the carton, packaging or manufacturing industry is highly desirable
• Knowledge of quality assurance and design verification processes is advantageous
