Job summary

See Song & Sons Sdn Bhd, a leading contractor in infrastructure and marine works, is hiring a Deputy Project Manager to lead dredging, port construction, breakwaters, reclamation and coastal structures. The candidate should possess strong technical knowledge, proven leadership, and a track record of delivering high‑value projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities include planning, coordination, progress monitoring, client and supplier liaison, site visits, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Requires Diploma or Degree in project-related field with min 5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with clients and teams.
• Proven ability to plan, coordinate, and monitor project activities.
• Proficient with MS Office; able to prepare reports and schedules.
• Willing to travel to project sites; able to work independently and under pressure.
• Good organizational and time management abilities.

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Deputy Project Manager to lead and oversee marine and civil engineering projects, including dredging, port construction, breakwaters, reclamation, and coastal structures. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, exceptional leadership, and a track record of delivering high-value projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support

• Assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities.
• Follow up on project schedules, work progress, materials, and deadlines.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Assist with site visits and project inspections when required.
• Prepare and maintain project documents, reports, schedules, and records.
• Attend project meetings and assist with meeting minutes and follow-up actions.
• Assist in resolving project issues and ensuring smooth project execution.
• Monitor project progress and report updates to the Project Manager.
• Ensure project activities are carried out according to project requirements and company procedures.

Administrative Support

• Assist with project documentation, filing, and data entry.
• Prepare quotations, purchase requests, reports, and other project-related documents.
• Maintain proper records of project correspondence and documents.
• Handle basic emails and communication related to project matters.
• Assist other departments with project-related administrative tasks when required.

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma/Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in project coordination, project management, construction, engineering, or a related field.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Able to coordinate effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Responsible, proactive, willing to learn, and able to work independently.
• Able to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure.
• Willing to travel to project sites when required.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in civil engineering, marine construction, dredging, or related industries.
• Basic knowledge of project planning and scheduling.

See Yong & Son Construction Sdn Bhd S(YS) is an established contractor in Marine & Civil Engineering. Since inception, SYS has been involved in the construction industry mainly in civil engineering works and works related to river and sea. Prior to 1985, SYS was a registered Class 'A' contractor with most government bodies, particularly the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Drainage & Irrigation Department (JPS).

In 1985, with the centralisation of all government departmental registration, SYS has since held a Class 'A' registration with the Pusat Khidmat Kontraktor (PKK) in civil engineering works, enabling it to tender for projects of unlimited contract sum from all government agencies.

In 1996, SYS also registered with the newly incorporated Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) as a Grade G7 (the highest grade) civil engineering contractor.
