About the Opportunity
Our client is a global IT services and business process outsourcing organisation with operations across multiple international markets. The company provides end-to-end technology and IT outsourcing solutions to clients across industries including consumer electronics, financial services, e-commerce, and customer experience operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day administration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Oracle and MySQL databases, ensuring stable, secure, and high-performing database environments.
- Participate in and support large-scale database migration projects, including technical implementation, data validation, post-migration troubleshooting, and system optimisation.
- Conduct regular database performance tuning, risk assessments, capacity planning, and system health checks.
- Develop and maintain standardised database maintenance, monitoring, and optimisation procedures.
- Respond promptly to database incidents, system outages, and performance abnormalities.
- Conduct root-cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions, and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Collaborate with regional and international technical teams to support cloud database operations and overseas IT service delivery.
- Provide technical support for database-related requirements across BPO, contact-centre, and other enterprise IT environments.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in Oracle and MySQL database administration and maintenance.
- Technical background in areas such as networking, software, systems integration, infrastructure, or IT service delivery.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Professional working proficiency in English and Malay.
- Able to work effectively with international and cross-functional teams.
- Candidates should be based in Malaysia or otherwise eligible to work locally. Expatriate sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Preferred candidate profile: 35 years old or below.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on exposure to AWS or other mainstream cloud platforms.
- Experience supporting cloud-hosted databases or digital information/library platforms in Malaysia.
- DBA operations and maintenance experience within the BPO, contact-centre, or IT outsourcing industry.
- Familiarity with international IT service delivery processes and standards.
- Experience working with distributed or cross-border technical teams.
Role & Team Structure
- Reporting to: International Sector Director
- Employment arrangement: Contracted through a local third-party employment vendor in Malaysia
- Work closely with the local Malaysia team as well as regional and international stakeholders.
- Working hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Work schedule: 5-day work week with 2 rest days
- Statutory employment benefits and insurance provided in accordance with Malaysian labour requirements
- Overtime arrangements may be discussed depending on business requirements
- Flexibility to provide emergency on-call support for critical database incidents when required
Interview Process
- 2 rounds of online interviews
- Interviews will be conducted by senior departmental leadership
