Job summary

Logistics Solutions (MLS) seeks a Database Administrator with a strong development background to support the FLUX Warehouse Management System. You will manage MySQL databases across production, staging, and test environments, optimize queries, and develop stored procedures to underpin WMS operations.

Ideal candidates have at least 4 years as a DBA with hands-on MySQL optimization, 2+ years in application development, and experience with AWS RDS or Huawei Cloud.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years as a DBA with hands-on MySQL optimization.
  • At least 2 years of application development experience — ability to read and understand backend code.
  • Expertise in query optimization, EXPLAIN analysis, index design, and InnoDB internals.
  • Complex stored procedure development — cursors, handlers, transactions, batch processing.
  • Performance tuning including index auditing, deadlock resolution, buffer pool tuning, and performance_schema.
  • Complex multi-table analytical queries, report optimization, and data extraction.
  • Understanding of backend application flow — Java, Python, or similar — to trace DB impact.
  • Familiarity with warehouse or logistics management systems and their data models.
  • Experience with managed MySQL on AWS RDS or equivalent cloud platform.
  • Server-level database administration, log analysis, and scripting (Linux / Bash).
  • English proficiency required for client-facing documentation and RCA reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain MySQL databases across production, staging, and test environments (AWS EKS / Huawei Cloud RDS).
  • Conduct regular index audits — identify unused, redundant, and low-cardinality indexes and provide drop/consolidation recommendations.
  • Perform query analysis using EXPLAIN and performance schema to identify and resolve slow queries and full table scans.
  • Implement and enforce index standards — composite index design, prefix ordering, sargability rules — across all WMS schemas.
  • Monitor InnoDB buffer pool, redo log volume, and lock wait activity; tune server parameters for optimal throughput.
  • Write, review, and optimize MySQL stored procedures (SPs) supporting WMS operations including allocation, picking, packing, loading, and EDI processing.
  • Audit and resolve deadlock-prone SPs by converting wide single-transaction DML into batched short-transaction patterns.
  • Design and write complex analytical SQL queries joining across WMS transactional tables to produce operational reports.
  • Support incident root cause analysis (RCA) for database-related production issues and produce structured RCA documents for client communication.
  • Participate in pre-go-live database readiness reviews for new customer onboarding and warehouse deployments.

Job description

Jora Malaysia will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Logistics Solutions (MLS) is seeking a Database Administrator with a strong development background to support the operational and technical needs of the FLUX Warehouse Management System (WMS). This role sits at the intersection of database engineering and application development, requiring the ability to understand end-to-end WMS business processes, maintain and optimize a high-volume MySQL database, write complex stored procedures, and produce analytical reports for operations and management teams across Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage, monitor, and maintain MySQL databases across production, staging, and test environments (AWS EKS / Huawei Cloud RDS).
  • Conduct regular index audits — identify unused, redundant, and low-cardinality indexes and provide drop/consolidation recommendations.
  • Perform query analysis using EXPLAIN and performance schema to identify and resolve slow queries and full table scans.
  • Implement and enforce index standards — composite index design, prefix ordering, sargability rules — across all WMS schemas.
  • Monitor InnoDB buffer pool, redo log volume, and lock wait activity; tune server parameters for optimal throughput.
  • Write, review, and optimize MySQL stored procedures (SPs) supporting WMS operations including allocation, picking, packing, loading, and EDI processing.
  • Audit and resolve deadlock-prone SPs by converting wide single-transaction DML into batched short-transaction patterns.
  • Design and write complex analytical SQL queries joining across WMS transactional tables to produce operational reports.
  • Support incident root cause analysis (RCA) for database-related production issues and produce structured RCA documents for client communication.
  • Participate in pre-go-live database readiness reviews for new customer onboarding and warehouse deployments.
