Job summary

SAM Engineering & Equipment (M) Bhd seeks a QA Director to lead our quality function with strategic oversight and a drive to elevate standards across the organisation. You will shape governance, build a high-performing team, and partner with leaders to deliver sustainable performance.

You will own quality transformation initiatives, oversee audits and regulatory compliance, and push continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and RCA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or related discipline.
• 12+ years in manufacturing quality, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
• Experience in aerospace, precision machining, semiconductor equipment or high-tech manufacturing.
• Proven track record in quality transformation, continuous improvement and measurable business impact.
• CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lead Auditor or equivalent certification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the organisation’s quality strategy, governance framework and systems.
• Lead the Quality Assurance function and build a high-performing team.
• Embed quality across the value chain from raw materials to final delivery.
• Ensure compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, CAPA and RCA.
• Lead internal and external audits and engage with customers and regulators.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Manufacturing for sustainable improvements.
• Stay ahead on quality technologies and best practices to sharpen competitive edge.
• Champion a culture of accountability and quality across the organisation.

We are seeking an accomplished QA Director to provide strategic leadership across the organisation’s quality function and drive a culture of quality excellence, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

This is a high-impact leadership role for a quality professional who can go beyond compliance - strengthening quality systems, elevating operational standards, developing high-performing teams and partnering with business leaders to drive sustainable performance.

What You’ll Lead

• Quality Strategy & Governance – Develop and execute the organisation’s quality strategy, systems and governance framework in alignment with business objectives and customer expectations.
• Quality Leadership – Lead and develop the Quality Assurance function, building a high-performing team and embedding a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• End-to-End Quality Excellence – Ensure quality is embedded across the entire value chain, from incoming raw materials and manufacturing processes through to final product delivery.
• Customer & Regulatory Excellence – Champion compliance with customer, industry and regulatory requirements while strengthening customer confidence and satisfaction.
• Continuous Improvement – Drive quality improvement initiatives, leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, CAPA and Root Cause Analysis to improve process capability, reduce defects and enhance operational performance.
• Audit & Compliance – Lead internal and external audits and partner with customers, certification bodies and regulatory authorities to maintain the highest standards of compliance.
• Cross-Functional Partnership – Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing and other business functions to identify quality risks, resolve critical issues and deliver sustainable process improvements.
• Quality Innovation – Stay ahead of emerging quality technologies, methodologies and industry best practices, recommending initiatives that strengthen the organisation’s competitive advantage.
• Quality Culture – Be a visible champion of quality, ensuring the organisation consistently delivers safe, reliable and high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or a related discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership / Director-level capacity.
• Strong expertise in AS9100, ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, CAPA and Root Cause Analysis.
• Experience within aerospace, precision machining, semiconductor equipment or high-tech manufacturing will be highly advantageous.
• Proven track record in quality transformation, continuous improvement and driving measurable business impact.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt, Lead Auditor or equivalent professional certification is an advantage.
