Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Consulting Engineer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to lead strategy and implementation of advanced Data Center solutions. The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in technical consulting, hands-on experience with L2/L3 networking protocols, and relevant Data Center certifications.

This role includes engaging directly with customers to develop scalable solutions and mentoring junior engineers within our team, emphasizing continuous learning and innovation.

Qualifications

Your Impact

As a Consulting Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, leading the strategy, design, and implementation of sophisticated Data Center and networking solutions that directly accelerate business outcomes. You will own end-to-end delivery of high-impact engagements, translating customer business requirements into scalable architectures while influencing technology transitions at the highest levels. Partner with Cisco account teams, partners, and multi-functional collaborators to align solution designs with customer goals, driving measurable success across pre-sales and delivery phases. Act as the primary escalation point for sophisticated problem resolution, demonstrating deep technical expertise to resolve sophisticated issues across a broad range of technologies. Develop and contribute digital intellectual capital, repeatable delivery frameworks, and knowledge‑sharing practices that elevate the entire consulting practice.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 8–12 years of relevant experience in customer-facing technical consulting, pre‑sales, and/or service delivery roles

• Deep knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols and technologies (vPC, STP, HSRP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) with strong hands‑on Nexus 2K/5K/7K/9K platform experience

• Lead & drive technology design, implementation, execution, and/or optimization for projects/accounts to accelerate customer outcomes.

• Proven experience in design and deployment of Data Center solutions including traditional DC standalone Nexus design, Cisco VXLAN Fabric and Cisco ACI Fabric solutions using ACI MultiPod /Multisite/Remote Leaf Fabric architectures.

• Partnered with customers to design and implement network solutions, ensuring seamless system integration and proactive service assurance

• Active Data Center certification such as CCIE or CCNP, or equivalent vendor certification (e.g. VCP)

• Experience integrating network services appliances (such as firewalls, IPS, load balancers, WAN optimizers) within Data Center solution designs

• Experience in Build and reviews project work e.g. Design recommendations, High‑Level Design, Low‑Level Design, Implementation/ Change Management Plans.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of software programmability, automation (Python, Ansible, Terraform and so on), orchestration, and/or virtualization technologies

• Experience with compute, virtualization, and container environments including Cisco UCS, HyperFlex, VMware, Microsoft, and Kubernetes

• Technical familiarity with multi‑cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud from a network integration perspective

• Proven ability to mentor and develop junior engineers, with experience leading high‑visibility strategic consulting engagements
