Job summary

E CONST DEVELOPMENT SDN BHD in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Construction Accountant with hands-on experience in construction project accounting, job costing, subcontractor payments, project billing, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years in construction accounting, be proficient with SQL Accounting Software and Excel, and be able to work closely with project managers to resolve billing and cost discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of construction accounting experience.
• Experience with construction project accounting, job costing, subcontractor payments, project billing, and financial reporting.
• Proficient in SQL Accounting Software and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Handle full-cycle accounting for construction projects.
• Manage AP and AR.
• Perform construction job costing and monitor project expenses.
• Enter and maintain invoices, payments, receipts, and other accounting transactions in SQL Accounting Software.
• Review and process supplier and subcontractor invoices.
• Prepare customer invoices and construction progress billings.
• Track project costs by project, contract, and cost category.
• Monitor project expenses against budgets.
• Prepare and maintain job-cost reports.
• Reconcile bank, supplier, customer and other balance sheet accounts.
• Handle subcontractor payments and supporting documentation.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
• Prepare payment vouchers, receipts, invoices, and other accounting documents.
• Assist with monthly closing and financial reporting.
• Maintain accurate accounting records.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to resolve billing and cost discrepancies.

We are looking for an experienced Construction Accountant with proven hands‑on experience in construction accounting.

Construction accounting experience is REQUIRED. This position is specifically for a candidate who understands construction project accounting, job costing, subcontractor payments, project billing, and project financial reporting.

The successful candidate must also have practical experience using SQL Accounting Software.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle full-cycle accounting for construction projects
• Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Perform construction job costing and monitor project expenses
• Enter and maintain invoices, payments, receipts, and other accounting transactions in SQL Accounting Software
• Review and process supplier and subcontractor invoices
• Prepare customer invoices and construction progress billings
• Track project costs by project, contract, and cost category
• Monitor project expenses against budgets

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of relevant construction accounting experience
• Previous hands‑on experience as a Construction Accountant is REQUIRED
• Strong knowledge of construction job costing and project accounting
• Experience handling construction-related AP, AR, billing, and project expenses
• Proficient in SQL Accounting Software
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
• Experience with subcontractor and supplier accounts
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organizational and time‑management skills
• Able to work independently and meet deadlines

We Are Looking For Someone Who

• Has actual experience working in construction accounting
• Understands how construction project costs are recorded and monitored
• Can independently manage day‑to‑day construction accounting
• Is familiar with project costing, subcontractor invoices, supplier invoices, customer billing, and payment processes
• Is comfortable using SQL Accounting Software on a daily basis
• Can identify accounting discrepancies and resolve them efficiently
• Can work closely with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and management
