Job summary

Quess Malaysia is seeking a senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial team on major factory, industrial, or data centre projects. You will oversee subcontract procurement, budgeting, cost control and contract administration, while mentoring the QS team and supporting tender activities.

The role requires a degree in Quantity Surveying or related field, 10+ years of main contractor experience, and strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related field.
• 10+ years of quantity surveying experience on main contractor side.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

• Source and shortlist vendors and subcontractors, including MEP and specialist packages.
• Compare quotes, negotiate prices and recommend awards within budget.
• Control project budgets and track commitments, cash flow and monthly cost reports.
• Review client contracts and manage subcontracts in line with company policy.
• Submit Notices of Claim and Delay on time, and respond to subcontractor payment claims within regulated timelines.
• Assess variations and final accounts, and manage contract extensions, renewals and close-outs.
• Lead and coach the QS team to meet KPIs.
• Support tenders and keep the GM, project teams and clients updated on commercial status.

• Sound knowledge of contracts, claims and the legal framework.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and numeracy skills, with attention to detail.
• Proven team leader with good written and spoken English.
