Job summary

SMEC Kuala Lumpur, part of the Surbana Jurong group, is seeking a Coastal Engineer to support planning and design for coastal works such as land reclamation, quay walls, and ports. You will assist the Executive Engineer with site investigation planning, interpretation of results, and coordinated design across civil, environmental, and geotechnical disciplines.

This role requires a Bachelor in Civil/Environmental Engineering, strong English, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-task.
• Fresh graduates welcome; 2+ years design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and design works for coastal projects (land reclamation, quay walls, ports).
• Support site investigation planning and result interpretation with the design team.
• Prepare calculations, reports, drawings and specifications as assigned.
• Supervise design and site work; manage subcontracts as needed.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes; support tender submissions.
