Job summary

UMW Equipment Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Computer Numerical Control Machinist to set up CNC lathes and milling machines, select tooling and fixtures, and adjust speeds and feeds to match operation programs.

You will read and interpret G-code/M-code, drill into turning and milling operations, and inspect machined parts with precision tools to ensure accuracy and quality, while maintaining tools and fixtures and optimizing programs with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC lathes and milling machines with appropriate tooling, fixtures and materials.
• Adjust speed, feed rate, and depth of cut per operation program parameters.
• Align and secure workpieces, tools, and attachments for precision machining.
• Operate CNC turning and milling operations including cutting, drilling, boring, threading, shaping.
• Monitor operations for accuracy and efficiency and maintain quality.

Job description

Set up CNC lathes and / or milling machines by installing the appropriate tooling, fixtures and materials.

Adjust / control machine settings such as speed, feed rate, and depth of cut for each material and operation (as per operation program parameter).

Align and secure workpieces / parts, tools, and machine attachments to ensure precise machining.

Operation:

Fitting the right tools to active machines prior to operation.

Operate CNC machines to perform turning (lathe) and / or milling operations, such as cutting, drilling, boring, threading, and shaping.

Monitor machine operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Machine parts to tight tolerances and specifications by following engineering / balloon / stage drawings and technical instructions.

Inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, and gauges) to verify dimensions and ensure quality.

Ensure inspection gauges are calibrated with valid calibration sticker.

Devising a work plan to efficiently carry out daily machining target.

Ensure tools, jigs and fixture are maintain and preserve well prior, during and after operation.

Programming Interpretation:

Read and interpret CNC programs (G-code and M-code).

Execute correct CNC programs as required.

Work with engineers and CNC programmers to optimize programs and machining processes for efficiency and quality.

Machine Maintenance:

Perform routine maintenance on CNC turning and / or milling machines, including lubrication, oil level, coolant concentricity and cleaning.

Report major malfunctions or breakdowns to supervisors or the maintenance team.

To ensure AM checklist updated based on requirement without fail.
