Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a CNC Machine Shop Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of the CNC machining shop, ensuring output meets production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets. The role covers CNC set-up, programming support, and operation across turning and milling, while guiding a team of machinists and operators.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and allocate daily machining jobs to meet production schedules and delivery commitments
  • Oversee CNC turning and milling operations across the shop
  • Ensure machines are set up, running, and changed over efficiently to maximise uptime
  • Monitor cycle times, throughput, and work-in-progress against targets
  • Balance workload across machines and shifts to optimise capacity
  • Prioritise urgent and rework jobs without disrupting overall flow
  • Support and verify CNC programs (G-code / CAM) for new and existing parts
  • Oversee tooling selection, offsets, fixtures, and first-article set-up
  • Optimise speeds, feeds, and tool paths to improve cycle time and tool life
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues on the floor
  • Maintain a controlled library of programs, set-up sheets, and tooling data
  • Drive reductions in set-up and changeover time (SMED)
  • Ensure machined parts conform to drawings, tolerances, and specifications
  • Oversee in-process inspection, first-article approval, and use of measuring instruments
  • Investigate root causes of non-conformances and implement corrective actions
  • Support SPC, capability studies, and process control on critical dimensions
  • Ensure calibration and correct use of gauges and measuring equipment
  • Uphold ISO and customer quality requirements on the shop floor
  • Lead, schedule, and supervise machinists and operators across shifts
  • Assign work based on skill level and develop team competency and cross-skilling
  • Provide on-the-job training on machine operation, safety, and quality
  • Set performance expectations, give feedback, and manage attendance and discipline
  • Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure daily autonomous maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines
  • Coordinate with maintenance on preventive and breakdown servicing
  • Monitor machine condition and elevate recurring reliability issues
  • Manage tooling, consumables, and spare-part usage to control cost
  • Enforce safe working practices, PPE, and machine-guarding compliance
  • Maintain 5S standards and a clean, organised, and safe shop environment
  • Ensure correct handling, storage, and disposal of coolant, chips, and swarf
  • Support incident investigation and implement preventive measures
  • Coordinate with production planning on schedules and material readiness
  • Work with engineering on new part introduction and process improvements
  • Liaise with quality on inspection results and corrective actions
  • Report shop-floor KPIs, output, and issues to management

Position Summary

The CNC Machine Shop Supervisor (Leader) is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation of the CNC machining shop, ensuring that machining output meets production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets. This role oversees CNC set-up, programming support, and operation across turning and milling equipment, while leading, developing, and scheduling a team of machinists and operators. The Supervisor will drive machine utilisation, process stability, and continuous improvement, and will act as the shop-floor point of contact for production, engineering, quality, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities – Machining Operations & Production
  • Plan and allocate daily machining jobs to meet production schedules and delivery commitments
  • Oversee CNC turning and milling operations across the shop
  • Ensure machines are set up, running, and changed over efficiently to maximise uptime
